I personally do not know ONE single person that could afford (or WOULD even if they COULD) that much for a dog, even though it IS a Yorkie. (it looks a lot different than any other yorkie I have seen though)
Reminds me of that site that was selling the Tricolor yorkie for $10,000 and its friend, another yorkie, was thrown in for free! lol (anyone remember that? I wonder what happened to those 2 little dogs???)

WOW! I am shocked that a Yorkie would go for $8500 that is not only tiny but has physical features that are not-in-line with the "standard" for a pure breed Yorkie. I know very little about what price any Yorkie should go for, however after listening to the pro's and con's from the YT breeders, I have a hard time with this adverstisement. It just seems to HIGH and so unfair. $8500 does not qualify anyone to be a better caregiver than say someone who will pay $1500 or $1000 or $500 or $50. Love knows no price. I understand with breeders they are concerned with good placement AND with price (of course). However this person is not a breeder. Like Sylvan has said time and again they don't do it for the money but for the love of the breed. Can we say the same about this person???

I agree this is a good place to advertise, but I strongly disagree that someone will offer her MORE than the $8500 -- you hit the nail on the head when you said, "in the case of these really tiny ones" -- I think that is referring to them being "accessorized" as in the Paris Hilton case.... the more money something cost, the more the "I want it because if it cost that much, there MUST be something to it". I wonder if these same people that you are guessing will offer more than 8500.00 would do the same if the lady was asking 700.00 for her. Must be nice to have that kind of money extra!!!

I do not think that is it at all...it's not bout a fashion accessory...I think it is about having a small companion that can go anywhere with you. It is especially important for disabled people who use there yorkies for service animals nd teach them to alert to certain sounds, or to certain changes in their body chemiatry depending upon the disabilit or illness.

If you read my earlier post this is exactly what happened when I came across a teeny tiny like that. The breeder was indeed offered $10,000 but declined the offer and sold it for less to a friend who she knew becuase he had two other yorkies she sold him. I think this is what most breeeders would do. There are far less scammers out there than people realize I imo and we are almost all smart enough not to be scammed.

You've got to be kidding me?? Yeah people are going to be lined up at the lady's door wanting to pay more than $8500 for that yorkie. If you ask me the poor thing looks so sad in those pictures. I"m sure there are people on YT that would love to be his forever home, but because the price is jacked up to make $$$ they can't afford him. Instead someone with more money than brains will come along and say ohhh look at that yorkie he's sooo tiny he could fit in my purse and I can carry him around and show him off! Then the poor baby becomes a fashion accessory! There is a slim chance that a kind a caring person will buy him but I doubt it. For someone that preaches so much about animal cruelty, animal laws etc. you sure are all about the big $$ for this dog? Might want to think about that.

I have a 3lb yorkie that is small enough to travel with me and I paid way way way less than 8500.00. I agree with the other YT'er who mentioned that the higher the price, the more *some* people tend to fall for them as "accessories" --- that is my opinion. I would have turned away from Daisha had she had a 8500.00 price tag on her. Glad she didn't. This is one spoiled rotten little baby!

I'm so glad you brought up the issue about how wonderful the tinies can be for disabled people. Even a 6 pounder can be too much weight to pick up or have on your lap. I don't have the ambition, but I wish someone would open a thread on the topic. It's a good one. We had a puppy that matured to 3 pounds in our last litter and when her owner took her to the vet, she was given a big lecture about how unethical it is to breed them this small. I got so defensive. I think you said earlier that about 20% of them are tinies. We don't have enough experience to know if this is true, but I know when you breed for a 5-1/2 to 6-pound adult, it happens. Same breeding produced a 7 pound male.

Yes I do...because when I was in the market for a tiny baby like him, I was involved with three different situations where that very thing happened but it was never the highest bidder that got the puppy in any of the three situations. In one case the highest bidder was a teenge girl with a wealthy daddy and she was refused. In another the breeder sold to her friend instead of a stranger who offered more. In the third, the breeder decided the dog was so unusual and she bonded so deeply through the months of constant care and attention that she kept him, but she was actually offered $12,000 and turned it down.

Why is that people on here like to bash people with money like it is a bad thing or something? All people with money are not selfich, cruel and cold. In fact most I know are the most generous and giving of anyone I have met. Most used to be less fortunate and give back. I am SURE that a kind and caring person will buy him.

If you look at the sizes of the parents you will see she wasn't breeding for an average sized adult and just happened to get a tiny.

I had a problem with THIS post - You can commend this person all you want, you're entitled to your opinion .....but saying only someone who spends $8500 will appreciate his 'VALUE' is pretty offensive to me.

I think we ALL Appreciate the value of our yorkies and we did NOT need to spend a ton of money - There are CARS that come close to the price of this puppy.

ps...As this puppy for a Fashion Accessory ? I don't even think a yorkie that small should be OUT in public - can you imagine the health risks with one THIS tiny ?

Wow! I didnt know people start bidding wars over yorkies. They are living beings not an auction item. I've never heard of anything like this. I learned something new today
