You've got the wrong person if this was addressed at me...LOL...I speak out against the YTCA breed standard in most situations. I think it consists of arbitrary rules and is based too much on outward appearance and not enough on temperament. My own three yorkies are all outside the standard. One is gold and white, all three are small, one has a "babydoll face" and the other has a cotton coat!!

No, but my father is...when I was young he decided to put my dog to sleep instead of pay the vet bill and i was devastated. I do understand those decisions for people who don't have the money which we didn't.

i'm sorry kim, thats very sad. but a lot of people would give an arm and leg to keep their baby around. my dog was hit by a car a few years ago. it dislocated his hip. and broke his leg. it was around 2000 dollars i believe for his first surgery. then his hip kept getting dislocated again and again, and it cost $$$ every time. now a few years later, it has finally stopped popping out, and he only has some arthritis in the winter. it wasn't my money that went into it, it was my parents, but if it had been mine, i would've given anything to keep him around. what happened to your dog is very sad, i'm sorry.

Yeah..so...I wasn't the only one who felt you were way off base there. I am making the same argument here. No one is any better or worse a person based on their economic condition. You will have good and bad people of every economic level. There were some people making commenta in this thread and on threads in the past that make them sound very prejudiced against people with a lot of monwy like they are somehow all bad, insenstive and looking for a status symbol in their dog. Those are stereotypes and myths.
