Long Tail...what do you do?

Awww thanks, I am a tailgirl even though I understand why show people want dock tails...but I saw a dog show (Thailand) on the internet and just thought the flowing tails were spectacular...

Thanks for posting pics of your yorkies with tails. I really think the Yorkshire Terreir is incredibly beautiful with or without a tail and I realize everytime I see photos of this awesome breed why I am so passionate about them. I absolutely love this breed.

Yes,I love newfiesI dreamed to have them from the beginning and they are with me over 25 years.But... someday a little yorkie needed a new home and I decided to get her just for fun.And she was a qualitty breeding bitch,and she was a mother,and ...I kept one puppie,then the other one ...and I just dropped completely with my heart...And now I love them same as newfies.And they sleep with me! Newfies don't because my bedroom is too hot for them

It was not that many years ago when a breeder/handler took his Boxer to the top 10 dogs at Westminister and the dog had it's natural tail and ears.

I also think more and more people are docking the tails longer as one day I believe this will be outlawed in the US. My girlfriend has a dog from Linda Bush Bejaze's Male Yorkie Photo's and look at her dogs tails..

I have heard it is very painful to do this to a dog after 3 or 4 days of birth.

Are you trying to say that Linda doesn't dock tails? Linda's yorkies tails are docked. Maybe you are comparing a tail to one that was cut too short? Linda's tails are the correct length for our standard.

My vet agrees with you. He feels there are too many nerves in the tail & many show prospects available.

I have seen one Yorkie finish with a full tail and it was shown by a handler. When I showed a dog against him 1 of the judges told me that he would never put up a dog w/ a full tail unless the standard was changed. It is up to the judge, but they can be shown.

I have several European dogs, including Ch Mortimer the Knight of Blue Cross, that have their full tails. In each litter I now leave at least one puppy with its full tail on and if that turns out to be my selection for show, so be it.
