| 7 show dogs die in hot van This story is so sad, a handler came home from a show and left the show dogs in their crates with the windows cracked open. Apparently 7 out of the 8 dogs died. What was this person thinking? So said. Does anyone know who the handler was and what kind of dogs? The showed a picture of a golden retriever on tv. | I can't even bring myself to read the article. Those poor, innocent babies.

| Wait, she was going to put the dogs in their kennels in the garage, "But because of the heat, she decided to leave the dogs in portable kennels in a van." (quote the article) How is that better? It does say in the article that the cause of death has not been determined. She checked on them at 4 AM and at 6AM they were in "distress" so she drove them to the vet. Did she just have a lapse in judgment?

| I figure she must has come home in the middle of the night and she must of thought they would not get that hot. But what about feeding, watering and walking the dogs? I think she was just thinking about herself and not the poor dogs. So sad. |

| Sounds like she was too hot and tired to take the trouble to properly let them out of the van after arriving home late at night/early morning! The article says the dogs had different owners. So, she must have been a handler. Can you imagine? Trusting someone with your beloved show dog and then to have them bake them in a hot van! Temperatures have been horrid across the country this month. How anyone could do that to another living creature is beyond me. But we will undoubtedly read about some mother doing that to her children before summer is over too. So very sad and such an unnecessary loss of life!

| Wow... obviously a very bad, careless decision. I can't imagine how the owners of the dogs feel. Regardless of how late it was when she got home, the least she could have done is bring them in the house where it's cool for the night. I bet SHE sure enjoyed being cool.

| This person, handler, professional, or whatever, is plain irresponsible. What a terrible thing to do. Where the he$$ was her brains? I think that was just an excuse she came up with, not taking the dogs out of their crates because she thought it would be cooler in the van. Too lazy or too tired after a long day and drive would be my guess. I would say her career is over, rightfully so, IMO. Those poor pups and how them must have suffered trying to breathe air. I can't even imagine the shock of the owner's when they are told there beautiful show dogs are gone. |

| Ack! I shouldn't have read the article. It just breaks my heart to hear this. Clearly the person was not thinking. Tragic and sad. Totally avoidable. |

| Yelena, thank for sharing those links. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking of those poor babies that suffered such a horrible death. I know the handler had no idea this would happen. I know she is devastated and she will have to live with her horrible mistake the rest of her life. |
