				   | I am watching Oprah right now on a lady that left her child in a hot car and of course the child died. I think it is easy to say what could have, would have but didn't or did happen. We are human, and being human, we all make mistakes. Horrible mistakes at times. I can't imagine how crushed she must have felt realizing what she had just done. It truly is heartbreaking that these dogs died and it could have been prevented. I'm sure she is beating herself up enough over it.

				   | I read this earlier today. How horrible. Such a bad judgement call on the handlers part. I thought I read that she is only 24 years old. I cant even imagine the horrors the dog owners are going through and the devistation the handler must feel. I cant even imagine having to live with this.

| YT Addict | I did not go and read the news report, just what everyone is posting, no one has said if she is going to be charged with anything. This was for sure animal cruelty. + I do not see any one letting her handle their dogs anymore. She has more likly see her last dogs show unless she has her own dogs. I would never trust anyone with my dogs like that. |

				   | I feel so darn bad for these dogs. . but although this girl acted irresponsible. . she must be so devestated with herself.. Knowing what happened in her care and how irresponsible she was not only to these dogs and their owners is just awful... The part she said about it being hot then not putting them in them where they belong...and leaving them in the van.. just did not make sense what so ever..where was her mind.. maybe she is just too young for so much responsibility..This is just heartbreaking.. I would die myself to entrust some one and this happen to one of my dogs.. |

				   | It did say that she hooked up fans. I am sure she had no idea they would get to hot. Also, they said there was confusion with the time line she gave. It is possible she slept in later than she had intended. As for her never showing again, I am sure she will be forgiven. I know of other horrific 'accidents' that have happened under a handlers care and they continued on. After all we are all human and some of us use poor judgment. Unfortunately, the poor dogs suffered a horrible death because of her poor judgment. It would be hard for me to trust any handler with my dogs. |

I kept telling him to take it to the vet immediately but he didn't he just kept trying to help the dog himself. Unbelieveable.

				   | things like this are exactly the reason I would never send a dog out with a handler. i was at a big AKC show in lexington a couple of years ago and saw a very well known handler jerking a yorkie around on the table because the dog wouldn't do what she wanted it to. She was really being mean to the dog. i commented to one of the exhibitors standing there that if that were my dog, I would slap her face. i couldn't believe it when they told me the woman's name. Even if I could afford it, my dogs would not go to a handler. You never know what happens when you aren't looking. i would say this young lady is in a bunch of trouble. ifeel sorry for her but even more sorry for the dog owners and the poor dogs. |

There is also a very disturbing sound to the question about times. The handler says she checked on them at 4 am and they were fine but in distress at 6:30 am. Then the vet said she got a cell phone call at 9:08 am, a call at her office at 9:20 am and met the handler and dogs at her office at 9:30 but rigor mortis had already set in, in some of the dead dogs. From what I read, rigor mortis just begins around 3 hours after death with full rigor @ the 12 hour point. It did say she tried to hose them down, but would you wait from 6:30 am til after 9:00 am to contact the vet, if you knew the dogs were in such distress? Three hours from when she said she noticed they were in distress til she had them at the vet and they had already had rigor mortis set in. So, were they already dead before she contacted the vet? I do think it was a horrible accident, but one that should never have happened. The dog owners do deserve an accurate account of what happened. I imagine the dogs were insured and insurance companies will probably have their own investigators too. Unfortunately, no matter what is learned, the poor dogs still died what had to be a cruel and heinous death. It breaks my heart to see how beautiful those dogs were and know they are now gone due to human neglect.

| YT Addict | ok someone said they are sure the owers had insurance on the dogs. I guess I did not no you could have insurance on a dog. Can you do that? Where do you get that? I know this is crazy questions I am sorry, I just never thought of that and I know insurance can bring the dogs back or make it right. These owner had top show dogs, and had put alot of time and money + love into them. You can not get that back, and themself will question it over and over "why did I trust this lady" She may show again one day, but this will for sure stay with her forever. I still look at it a animal curelty, and something should be done. For as one post about someone leaving a dog in a car, I am sorry if I see a dog in a car and it is hot out I will call the police on you!! I am sorry if you know you can not take the dog in where you are going, leave the dog at home in the A/C please!!! That is a no no, you don't leave you kids in a car with windows down in the summer heat, and you don't leave dogs in a car for no time. I don't unstand people. I have a good friend that has been breeding Maltese for 24 some years and I was at her house and another breeder called her (this was last summer) and want to know if she had lost in of her dog, meaning had in died? She said no and the lady acted a little upset but nothing big and then she told her that when she went out to her (indoor) kennel that 4 of her yorkies was had died. My friend ask did you have A/C in the kennel she said no just fans, but I thought they would be ok. and then ask my friend if that is what she thought they died from. I could not beleive what I was hearing. How do you have a sheld / indoor kennle and don't put a A/C in it. They would be better just out side to get some air that in a building with no A/C. Still can beleive it. |

				   | I'm surprised it would be that hot at that time of the morning. Also, isn't it extremly neglectful that she came back from some show, dogs cooped up in cages in the van, not taken out to stretch or potty or anything? I find this an altogether odd story.
