| 5yr old purebreed "Scooter" looking for a good home to scoot around in Scooter is a 5 year old purebreed Yorkie male, currently living in a northern suburb of Chicago. He's very active, loving, protective of those he loves, loves to give kisses, craves lots of attention, loves to play non stop, and is quite good around other dogs. Scooter is housetrained and doesn't have accidents inside the home. He's also been neutered. We have recently moved from a home to an apartment environment and must give Scooter away to a good home. He has never been around children so a home with kids is probably not be a good match. Occasionally around strangers that he feels threatened by, he can get aggressive. Scooter is definitely not a quiet dog, as he often likes to speak his mind. He has always had the run of the house and has never been caged. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, let Scooter "scoot" into your home. Please PM with contact info if you are interested in Scooter. Last edited by admin; 04-26-2007 at 08:05 AM. |

| Please can I offer some advice which would be the best thing for Scooter. Call a Yorkie rescue organization. Unless you are experienced with interviewing people they can lie to you and who knows what can happen to Scooter. Also, it is never a good idea to offer a dog for "free" as all kinds of people come out of the woodwork. and as sad as this is, some of these little dogs have been adopted to be used as pitbull bait. I know this is a difficult decision for you and you want what is right for Scooter (a good home without looking for $$$) but rescue people are very experienced in matching the right person to the right dog and they do home visits to check everything out. I wish you luck with finding the perfect home for Scooter.

| I live in the northern suburbs in Illinois are you aware of any Yorkie shelters in my area? I tried to locate on but can't. Thanks also for the advice I did take out the free part. What you said makes perfect sense. Thanks so much for the advice. |

| Not sure exactly where you are but here are a few: One of my favorite is united yorkie rescue. Also when you google rescue look for small dogs or toy dog rescues. You can also go to petfinders.com and they list a number of rescue organizations in your state. You also might want to check with your vet for suggestions or to help you place your scooter. They usually have been good resources as they know people who just lost a beloved dog. http://www.unitedyorkierescue.com/ http://yorkshireterrierrescue.com/ http://www.yorkshireterrierrescue.net/ http://www.pawschicago.org/ShelterIn...eed_rescue.htm http://www.thepooka.com/rescue.html http://www.adoptarescuepet.org/illinois.htm http://www.wonderpuppy.net/natlrescues.htm I am glad you removed the free. It is also important to understand people have to have some $$$ to pay for the health care of these dogs so that is another reason "free" might give off some wrong signals. Let me know if I can help further.

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | He is so cute, but I can't have any more. (My husband is thinking of moving out himself) just kidding. But I wish you the best in finding a home for him. It would brake my heart to let one of mine go.

| I totally agree with contacting a Yorkie rescue. I recently adopted a rescue after filling out a lengthy application, giving references, having a phone interview and having a home visit. They are very careful and try to place each dog with a perfect match so it will not have to be rehomed again. They really are in the best interest of the dog. I went to Save a Yorkie in PA. Good luck! Hope he finds the home he deserves!

| Hi everyone! RMilanov has agreed to give Scooter to my good friends who were formerly owned by a Yorkie named Lacy. I'm going to pick him up on Thursday! My friend was so excited about him she cried!!!!! Wish me luck getting around in Chicago to go get him!
