Not sure exactly where you are but here are a few: One of my favorite is united yorkie rescue. Also when you google rescue look for small dogs or toy dog rescues. You can also go to petfinders.com and they list a number of rescue organizations in your state. You also might want to check with your vet for suggestions or to help you place your scooter. They usually have been good resources as they know people who just lost a beloved dog.

I am glad you removed the free. It is also important to understand people have to have some $$$ to pay for the health care of these dogs so that is another reason "free" might give off some wrong signals.
