as far as adoption, I went through the state and adopted a child who came to us as a foster child. We adopted him when he was 3 years old and I took in a lot of other children as well..

And trust me, we went through A LOT to become foster parents, and again when we adopted greg. He came to us at 12 months old, he has fetal alcohol syndrome and is now 21 and still needs us to help him and always will. He just now walked in here and asked me how to address an envelope. I have showed him before many times.

You know how many homes he was in by the age of 12 months? our home was the 5th!!!!!!!! He went from his birth mom to foster care, then back with bio, then at 6 months back to foster care, then to another foster home and was there for about 4 months and was severely neglected and then placed with us. He weighed 19 pounds at 12 months old!

My point was obviously missed when talking about the rescues I had dealt with and the one I used to do rescue and fostering for cocker spaniels.

Again, I never said all rescues.
Thank you for the clarification. Not all rescues are great...just like not all breeders are. Just the way things are.

I hope you find Mindy a home where she is loved as much as you love your son, Greg. He was lucky to have come to you.

ALL THE BEST Finding her a new home -I wish you all the best and hope someone will give her a home that she deserves.....maybe once she feels secure her behavior will change - you never know....she may feel very unstable which could account for how she's acted maybe ? ......I'm sorry things didn't work out in the first home - that's a shame but hopefully this will have a happy ending for you and most importantly - Mindy. She's a cutie

No one blamed YOU. People offered advice and you came back trashing rescues. Seriously. This is NOT an attack on you.

I am so weary of people throwing the smoke screens out over these threads. People are TRYING TO HELP MINDY!!! and you as well....she is a hard to place pupster and trust me, we are VERY experienced with those.

We finally placed one that was very similar to Mindy last year....she hated dogs and had to go to a one dog home...you know how hard it is just to find a foster home for a pup like that. She also bit anyone who tried to even brush her hair. She now has a wonderful home. It has been a year. Rescues deal with this stuff ALL OF THE TIME. We are not evil demons.
I am sorry but I cannot read without feeling emotion. I listened, and I respected the advice. I am looking at all people in regards to a home for Mindy, which I have said before. And no I don't believe ALL people should have the right to own a dog, same as I feel many more people should not be allowed to have children!

So please don't say I am not listening. I just feel age should not be an automatic disqualification.

that was well said - I'm not involved in rescue but have a ton of respect for those that are and like you said - there's always good and bad in all aspects of the pet world.....

I think she has the dogs best interest at heart from what I read. It's hard taking in a dog when you have others to worry about and even harder to place one if they have 'issues'.

Thank you.. I have been feeling nothing but pure, horrible guilt since the placement didn't work out. And I am a very sensitive person, and I DO take things personally. Unfortunately, I cannot change it.. already tried..LOL just ask my poor husband.

I would just rather keep Mindy, but she just really doesn't like other dogs and I really am thinking of her first.

I have had a bunch of emails from CL about Mindy, hardly anyone is reading the entire ad. Mindy the Yorkie is ready to be adopted..Read all about her..
And people with little kids, other dogs, etc are wanting her event though I am clear in the ad. I have had 3 people ask me to waive the fee...

The only reason I have a fee up is to keep the flippers away. But to email me and right off the bat ask me to waive the fee is tacky I feel. I adopted a shih tzu out last year and had a fee, well when I placed her I refused the money because I knew they were the right home and I didn't need the money or want it.

They handed me the money and "demanded" I take it..LOL.. so I did but I donated it to a local rescue I know and trust. After all they did put an ad on their petfinder space for me as a favor. It's a cocker rescue I helped get started and know the woman very well who runs it.

I completely respect good, honest rescues and support them. I guess I have just run into a few bad ones. One being the one I used to work with, it was horrible. they let the females get pg and then would "adopt" out the pups for high amounts. It's a long story..

So when I was writing about rescues in a bad light I was thinking of them. That wasn't fair so I do apologize.

Oh trust me I know how people are. We recently had a woman apply for one of our fosters who is female aggressive. The application looked perfect right down to details about how she cares for her pups. We were very clear in her bio that we were looking for her to be an only pup or in a home with males. Well...this woman had two males...so she said. Thankfully, when the vet check was done something smelled funny. I cannot give any details because this is open and public; but the end result was the she lied, got a vet employee and her mother to lie. She had two females!! She put a profession down that we later found out was a lie. Heaven only knows what she was going to do for the home visit....she actually set a date with us for one!! The things that people do is just unbelievable.

You really should not feel guilty at all. Sometimes things simply do not work out. You know now that she just cannot go to a home with any other pups. You will find her perfect home! I am sure of it. Maybe it is this couple .. if they are in their 50s that is not old... even in their early 60s I would surely go for it if they have a good vet reference. I just get leary when people are over 70 and they want puppies. That is looking for a pup to be homeless at some point. Just my opinion.

I really wish we could do more to help you.

I just looked at your CL post....it is perfect! She is such a little doll. I SO wish I knew someone who might want one pupster. I had contacted that one lady I told you about, but thank goodness she was not ready. Imagine if she had gone there to get her from Houston and got her home with her female. Yikes!

I will keep an eye out on our apps. Sometimes people apply who want a pup that may not be a good fit and we try to help them find another pup. We do not push another of ours off on them that would not work out. Never know...something might come in. Of course, in the meantime, maybe those people are not that old and might be perfect!

Well I tried to stay out of the drama .
I am sorry that the failure at our end caused Karla so much grief .
She has a huge heart and loves her pack very much .
We did have a backup plan in case things did not work out .
The primary concern was not to displace Sunshine ,at first Mindy did quite well . However she was still recovering from her spay.pyometra operation .
Once she was back from that she became a take charge kinda girl and mr Sunshine could not much deal with that .
He has been an only since we got him 2 years ago , and actually we thought he would like a sister to keep him company . However it turned out she was bossing him way too much . She was becoming stronger and him weaker ,and I did not want to put him though that .
Being at my house was great for Mindy to recover and I really think she enjoyed being here . We helped Karla with the vet costs , because it was something we could do for Mindy. The person that Karla got Mindy from totally gave bad information about her , some things we will never know .
I was hoping she would be able to stay with us forever but I had to put Sunshine first . I even got another opinion from our vet about their personalities and she thought it best for them not to be together .
BTW Sunshine came very close to outliving me last year , he helped me recover .

You can't, and really shouldn't, judge someone because of a certain classifications. Both my parents are in their early 50's. My mom is the oldest of all her siblings, but since she takes good care of herself she looks like the youngest. Her sisters are not in the best physical shape. Same with my dad. Not the oldest, but somewhere in the middle, and I can definitely see him outliving my godfather who is in his late 30's early 40's.
I do applaud those that shared their opinion as they truly have all furbutt's best interest at hear, but really there is no need to go back and forth on this.

So she isn't a puppy.

I am no longer going to respond to this thread any more.

I am so sorry your thread turned out like this.

Im so happy you took this girl in and helping her find her forever home, we need more people like you. Im sure you will check people out good, heres praying she finds her forever loving home.
