Needing a home for Mindy, age 2

This was confusing! Karla, for starters, I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time.

It sounds like have done, are doing and will do whatever you can to do the right thing. I know some of the posts may/may not make you feel that way. Please try to remember that there isn't any inflection in email. Even the best breeders and foster moms can place a dog in a home that isn't perfect. We all do the best that we can, we hope for the best. No matter what happened, anyone would feel bad. Please try not to feel bad. If anyone is blaming you, they don't know what happened.

I realize that she's been moved around quite a bit. However, you're still there for her. Thank you for not giving up. It's very nice of you to help her.

Have you looked at rescues outside of yorkie?

Yes, thank God she is there for Mindy. Many people just give up. They don't want the problem and dump them. It kills me to see that.

Mindy has been moved to much for my taste. And she is pretty upset right now. I don't know if it is possible, I believe it is, but I think she is mad as heck right now.

She is just going after the other dogs like she never has before. And I think she is taking out her anger and frustration out on the other dogs.

I honestly believe re-homing her again may push her completely over the edge.

I sent an email to the local trainer for bark busters to see what they may be able to do. Dog Training by Bark Busters

I heard about them from a woman on the yorkie list i am on. She said they used to work with rescue dogs for free, but isn't sure if they still do that or not.

Poor Mindy....I am sure she is upset. She has been through so much. I agree...too much is too much! I don't know if I would have the heart to look for another home for her after all of this.

I think when a place offers free services to rescues, they mean established rescues.

Bark Busters has a lifetime guarantee. I have never used them, but have heard some people say they are great. Not sure how they are with behavioral issues. I really thought they were more into training.

Yes, several! There is no official yorkie rescue here. I looked at all of them on petfinder. I contacted a bunch of rescues here.

Just because you do not see a yorkie rescue in your area, does not mean that one of the national groups does not have a foster home in your area!

The groups have to use an address to list on Petfinder. So...sometimes dogs may be in another area!

Oh I meant they will with dogs who have been rescued, not just rescue organizations. I am not any kind of rescue. And they do work with behavioral issues including Mindy's issues. I am told they are quite expensive otherwise, so I am just checking everything out.

I am not looking for another home for Mindy, she is staying here, at least for now. I cannot say about the future until I talk to a trainer/behaviorist and see if she can be helped and then go from there.

Yes I know this, that is why I have contact 2 out of state ones. I just got an email this morning from one of the rescues (not yorkie) that told me she should be PTS!!!! They said a dog like that can never be trusted. I will spare you MY reply!

PS: we have so many rescues in WA I can't believe it. And more and more pop up every day. I also know the woman who runs the Puyallup Animal rescue just a few miles from me. She grooms my dogs. I called and left her a message.. She was the first one I called yesterday.

I have been following your and Mindy's story since you first posted. I just wanted to say that I can only imagine what the two of you are going through and it takes a very special person to take all of this on and continue to do the best for Mindy. I believe there will be special rewards in Heaven for you one day! I do not believe that anyone here who reads your story would find any blame for you. I wish you well and I'm saying prayers for you and Mindy!

I take offence with your reply..."Your lifestyle will not fit Mindy." I jog with my dog every day and am not your regular retiree. SHE WOULD NOT BULLY ANGUS...he would take so much and then let her have it. I plan on purchasing another Yorkie - no more rescues for me.

Very interesting kind of response...since #1 the issue with Mindy is Men and you are married to I assume a man and #2 she has said she is not a rescue organization..so why would you judge based on this and say, no more rescues?

I agree and then....what kind of a plan is this to deal with an aggressive dog?
