OK...this thread is getting hijacked. I am going to say a lot of prayers that Mindy finds her forever and ever home. :) |
When I first saw this thread about Mindy was that she was being bounced around because of irresponsible breeding and pet ownership. She was a 6 month old puppy, found on a doorstep, taken in and now after a breakup needs to be rehomed again. This poor little one fallen through the cracks and it's heartbreaking hearing such a sad story. I can totally see why all the others are giving the opinion that she needs to go to a home that will be the most forever home. She has been bounced around 3 TIMES in her 2 years of life  Several people gave their opinions and somehow this thread has now turned into "rescues hate elderly" All that was suggested was to consider someone that was younger to give a better change that this would be Mindy's final home~forever :( I really don't understand why that is such a horrible opinion and being taken offensively? Sorry to say but I too would agree that after 3 (4 including the last that didn't work out) homes in 2 years Mindy's next family should be chosen solely and entirely IN THE VERY BEST INTEREST of Mindy. It now has become a placement issue after being moved from place to place so many times. :( |

Yes, she was abandoned. She just needs a break and has not had one yet. Which is even more of a reason to really give her the chance that she needs. :( |
I don't see it on the first post. Nevermind, I found it. Poor girl really does need a break. :( |

And...you trash rescues? And try to tell us that you went through more to get a dog than a child? Please do tell me what adoption agency you went through. They do not just hand children over willy nilly without background checks! You say rescue and the way they do things makes you sick? Well, breeders who are not careful about where they place their pups make me sick, but I cannot change that can I? Thankfully they are not all like that....and all rescues are not bad either! Quote:
As for rescuers blaming breeders for everything...I blame MOST of the problems on bad and/or irresponsible breeders. You can bet your boots on that one! Call this whatever you want...it is not an attack. So sad that you post here in the rescue and rehome forum and cannot take advice without bashing rescue. Someone tried to offer advice and you start saying that you dont like what rescue does...AND call someone insane for not adopting to a friend of yours because she did not have children. WhatEVER the rescue told her, they had a reason AND a RIGHT! They paid the bills and they saved the pup and they were doing the best they could to find the pup a home. Maybe they really turned your friend down for other reasons and just used an excuse.?? Who knows. But don't be saying they are wrong. |

I have been trying to do my very best to place her in the right home and I don't take it lightly. She cannot be placed with other dogs, or children, or cats and she doesn't care much for men..has bit them. So finding her a home is very tough. And we really thought she would do well with ONE dog when I placed her with them. So in no way should I be blamed for this dog ending up here. I am doing my best here and taking very good care of Mindy and trying to do the best by her that I possibly can. |

As I said, I will pray for that sweet girl. I hope you find a wonderful home for her. She deserves it....or shall I say she has a right...she has surely earned it at this point. |

And...honestly the only thing anyone was saying was to be careful about placing a younger pupster with an older retired couple. 50 is not elderly. These might indeed be great people for her....I don't think anyone said they are not. Everyone was TRYING to suggest to you that an older retired couple might not be good with a young pupster. That's all. |

No one blamed YOU. People offered advice and you came back trashing rescues. Seriously. This is NOT an attack on you. I am so weary of people throwing the smoke screens out over these threads. People are TRYING TO HELP MINDY!!! and you as well....she is a hard to place pupster and trust me, we are VERY experienced with those. We finally placed one that was very similar to Mindy last year....she hated dogs and had to go to a one dog home...you know how hard it is just to find a foster home for a pup like that. She also bit anyone who tried to even brush her hair. She now has a wonderful home. It has been a year. Rescues deal with this stuff ALL OF THE TIME. We are not evil demons. |
my final post... I didn't say ALL rescues, I didn't say anything about your rescue or anything about you at all. as far as adoption, I went through the state and adopted a child who came to us as a foster child. We adopted him when he was 3 years old and I took in a lot of other children as well.. And trust me, we went through A LOT to become foster parents, and again when we adopted greg. He came to us at 12 months old, he has fetal alcohol syndrome and is now 21 and still needs us to help him and always will. He just now walked in here and asked me how to address an envelope. I have showed him before many times. You know how many homes he was in by the age of 12 months? our home was the 5th!!!!!!!! He went from his birth mom to foster care, then back with bio, then at 6 months back to foster care, then to another foster home and was there for about 4 months and was severely neglected and then placed with us. He weighed 19 pounds at 12 months old! My point was obviously missed when talking about the rescues I had dealt with and the one I used to do rescue and fostering for cocker spaniels. Again, I never said all rescues. |
