There's been NO slams against the oldies...I'm one myself but, it's not about ME but the best interest of the animal...period.

We know it because we see it ALL of the time ... we are the ones that clean up all of the mistakes that others make.

How many people promise that they will take care of an elderly parent's pup should they die...and THEN take them to shelters after the parent dies or ends up in a nursing home??? I really should keep track of the numbers....just awful.

It has scared me enough to tell my family to please euthanize my pups if they cannot personally care for them in the event of my death. NO WAY do I ever want them to go through the living hell I see so many pups go through. There IS a fate worse than humane euthanasia.

I think we should wait until Mommadog1 meets with these older retired couple before all this back and forth of adopting to an elderly person. I have been retired for 5 years and I am 57. My husband just retired at 58. They obviously did a good job getting their shi zu to 17 years of age. I just hate to see this turn into a negative thread. I think everyone has Mindy's best interest at heart.

She can do as she pleases...I am sure she will anyway. There is no negativity here....we are trying to educate people! :)

Sadly, it happens a lot when people don't want to hear people's opinions. Many people think you are supposed to just sit by and never give an opinion. I am not here for that....I feel it is my obligation to the pups to educate people...or at the very least, share my thoughts. It is an open forum and I believe that if people don't like the feedback they can do a a few things;

Totally ignore what they don't care to use.

Put people on ignore if it is hard to ignore them.

OR....simply stay off forums if they aggravate that much.

Life is too short to get so upset over text on a computer screen.

I actually think the thread has already soured a little. I understand everyones points, and I agree with Patti. Let her meet with the retired "elderly" couple before anyone jumps to conclusions. You can't, and really shouldn't, judge someone because of a certain classifications. Both my parents are in their early 50's. My mom is the oldest of all her siblings, but since she takes good care of herself she looks like the youngest. Her sisters are not in the best physical shape. Same with my dad. Not the oldest, but somewhere in the middle, and I can definitely see him outliving my godfather who is in his late 30's early 40's.
I do applaud those that shared their opinion as they truly have all furbutt's best interest at hear, but really there is no need to go back and forth on this.

No one said anything about this couple!!!! We are sharing our experiences with a breeder who has tried to place a pup and is having a problem doing so. This pup has already been placed twice...she says once by her. I don't know ... all I know is I would love to save Mindy from another placement that does not suit her needs.

Maybe SHE does not see the amounts of homeless dogs we get because breeders are more concerned with what she calls the "right" of people to get dogs.

We shared..and now you all come from wherever calling it negative.

I didn't call it negative. Sour yes, because the OP took offense to the comments on the couple's age. You do have your right to share, and I do see validity in your points. If I were a breeder/foster mom, I would be concerned about placing a young puppy with a much older couple, like a 6 month old pup with a couple in their 70's. But I also think we (and this includes me) need to learn when we are coming on way to strong. I didn't mean for my post to offend anyone.

First of all....please go back and read what that woman said about rescues and perhaps address that. She is posting in the rescue and rehome section and bad mouthing rescue? And..saying she knows how to place her pup....well clearly it is not as simple as that....Mindy has been in two homes...maybe more. I don't know. People were trying to help!

I am not offended. I am simply explaining in case anyone cares to learn.

I did read. I've kept up with this thread since day 1, I just didn't post because I have nothing truly helpful to add. I probably still don't. I guess I keep having all the criticism that YT has been getting lately running through my head. I bite my tongue after I see someone isn't entirely receptive (just think NatNatt).

All online forums have rumbles at times....it is just the nature of the internet. It is not hurting YT as some people would lead you to believe. That is the propoganda some people spread to try to get rid of what they don't like or what makes them uncomfortable.
YT has been around a long time and will continue to be.

Oh...I bite my tongue with people who are only here to push buttons. No reason for you to bite your tongue. The only way people learn things is for people to voice opinions.
