Needing a home for Mindy, age 2 2 Attachment(s) This is kind of a confusing story. And I don't know how to post it, I mean I am afraid I will be judged.. but here goes.. One of my husbands co-workers broke up with his girlfriend, he had to move back in with mom and he told Don he has to find his yorkie a home ASAP or to the pound because he couldn't keep him there. Don has known this guy for years and wanted to help him out. So we said we would take her and find her a really good home. Well we expected to be able to find her a home right away because she is a yorkie and a nice dog. However, the co-worker left out A LOT of information on this dog.. He lied! So we have had to spend the last couple of months working with her. But while she is a wonderful, awesome girl she has a few issues so we have to be very careful where she goes. Mindy dislikes men and will nip them in the leg.. BIG problem right there. BUT, we have found a way to help her with this issue and she no longer does this HERE... I cannot say she wont do it in a new home. We started with my husband giving her a treat and saying hello to her when he comes in from work. She bit him (no blood) maybe 2 times and after he started this she has quit. We have our male friends do this when they come in as well and it has worked really well. She is also a woman's dog, while she is now warming up to Don and will go to him to be petted, she spends 99% of her time with me on my lap or next to me. I do not know how she is with kids but I wont place her in a home with kids under 12..Period.. She is crate trained but doesn't need to be in one. She should be in a home with a single, preferably retired or stays at home female or older couple. What she needs is a mellow home. She is a very mellow, sweet girl of 10 pounds. I just weighed her, she is still small but not tiny like some are looking for. She is also a barker, she talks A LOT when my husband comes home. I have been using the dog repeller to try and train her and it works most of the time if I am close enough. But if all the dogs get going she doesn't always quit right away. she IS learning. I have to many dogs right now and I cannot keep her, plus like I said it was never our intention to keep her. I have no clue how she is with cats. But she can be snotty to other dogs, especially females. But it's just certain dogs. She and my cockapoo Candy cannot stand each other and Mindy can be a bully to my 5 year old yorkie Kizzie, and Kizzie is only 4 pounds. Kizzie is afraid of Mindy and ever since Mindy came here Kizzie spends a lot of her time hiding out in our room or my adult sons room. Mindy is smart, she is cute and she is possibly mixed because she has a curly coat. She had a very short cut when we took her in and it is now growing out a lot and the curl is really showing. But she acts totally yorkie;) She is house trained, she is up to date on her vaccines except rabies. We don't need it where we live so I don't do it on any of my own dogs. Mindy needs to be spayed and that will be done before she leaves my home. I am not looking for any money for her, but I will be charging the spay fee as an adoption fee. Her teeth are good but is due for a cleaning as well I am sure. I do not feel comfortable shipping her but I will consider it for the right home and I will have to get someone to come check out your home. I don't know her birthday or who bred her or anything. Don's co-worker got her as a stray, she just showed up on their doorstep one day when she was approx. 6 months old. He is the one who said she is about 2 years old. She is a really funny dog with a ton of personality and love to give. Well that is all I can think of right now. If you are interested please contact me with more questions, etc. I live in Washington State on the west side of the mountains. One hour south of Seattle... You can see her here : Dog profile for Mindy, a female Yorkshire Terrier And I use this vet clinic for doing spays and teeth cleaning: Value Pet Clinic Check their prices here: Value Pet Clinic |

She is a little doll! I wish I lived closer to you....I would love to help you find her a home. |
I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a retired lady or couple that would take her. She's a cutie pie and since she is house trained I would think there would be a number of people that would appeal to. I do hope you are able to find her a home.:) |
That is so sad! I cannot believe that the man asked you to take another one of his pups. What is wrong with people?:( |
Hi there . We are fairly near you . I wil talk to Sue in the morning maybe we can come by and meet Mindy . I would never displace Sunshine so they would have to get along . Let me get back to you , Thanks Steve |

She has been treated like one of the family and we have worked very hard with her to help her with the issues she had. I am ready to keep her if we don't find the right home. We met Steve and Sue Saturday and they are 2 very wonderful people. We had a long and very nice visit and I think they are a great match for Mindy. Their Sunshine was not thrilled at first since we do have several dogs;) But I think they will become very good friends. Sunshine is a very sweet dog, and you can tell how much he is loved by Sue and Steve. She is going to be spayed this week and if all goes well she will be going to live with them this next weekend. |

Your Sunshine is a doll!! I really do think he and Mindy will become good buddies. I am so glad you got to meet her today and see for yourself what a wonderful and adorable dog she is. I told my husband after you left that if his co-worker gets another dog I will personally kick his a$$. I guess he did give the min pin away, I am not sure to who though but just about any home has got to better than his! Well, Have a wonderful Sunday and I will talk to you probably Monday or Tuesday. I will give the clinic a call and make her an appointment for probably Wednesday or Thursday. I will talk to you soon...:D |

She was so cute, talking to Steve when he got out his flip to tape her. But he moved from the couch to the floor and she kinda freaked out. So I got the treats out and 30 minutes later she was on the couch with her head on his lap!! I sure hope there is nothing wrong with your flip Steve. Maybe just needs charging? Those little cams are great. I liked that yours is smaller than mine but when i was looking at them they hadn't come out with the newer ones yet.. Isn't it always like that? hehe |
mommadog1, you truly are the epitome of what each of us should be. Instead of getting rid of a doggie that was difficult, you stuck it out and have succeeded. Many blessing upon you, your family, and your furbabies. |
Hi Karla, I had an Idea ,I will check out Vet on their pricing tomorrow . It may be easyer on Mindy if we had he spay /chip etc done up here . As long as the cost is not a whole lot more ,beside we were going to get her a checkup reguardless of whoem gets her spayed . I do not want to seem wisy washy , just what would be best for the little girl. Also my flip seems to have recovered ,I will post up this months meetup and at your house later this week. In the mean time this is the link to last month meetup. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...a-yorkies.html Yack at you tomorrow , Steve |
Another success story in the Rescue/Rehome forum! Thank you both for working together to find the perfect home for Mindy :) |

I think I would feel more comfortable having it done before she leaves. You can always take her in for a check up after that with your own vet. I actually think it would be easier on her to recover at "home" here for a couple of days after having it done. Anyhow, I will be emailing you an adoption contract to fill out and bring with you when you pick her up. Will talk to you more via email;) |
Very glad that this worked out for Mindy! She looks like quite a darling! |

Yeah!:D |
OOH this is such a sweet story and going to be a wonderful home for little Mindy. She is a doll. THe video that Steve posted just brought a smile to our faces here. THank you Steve for posting that. I suppose it would be easier on a gal recovering from a surgery in a place she is already familiar with. Thank you mommadog1 for sharing this story with us. Your pack is lucky to have you!! |
On our way Well I am on my way to take Mindy for her spay appointment.. have a great day:) |
Turns out poor Mindy has pyometra. I know nothing about this other then what I am reading up on now. But she has a bad infection. I am sick about this. She showed no signs, no discharge or acting ill, nothing! The only thing I noticed was some belly swelling but I thought she was just eating to much. It is a good thing I took her in to get her spayed or it could have killed her. This folks is why you should spay your girls!! This would not have happened had she been spayed by the dope head that owned her before... They are charging me an extra 100.00 because of it, I guess they did me a favor because the girl said normally that would cost 300.00..yikes... Mindy will be fine though thank god!!!! |
Just want to send off good wishes and prayer's for Mindy to get through her surgery with flying colors, recoup and go to her new loving home. Your a doll for taking in this adorable girl and making sure she get's the forever home she so deserves.. Congratulations Susan and Steve on your new adorable furbaby. |
