Thank you both for such a wonderful happy ending and I can't wait to see some pictures too :) |
We took Mindy to meet the vets today ,and will have a checkup next week after she is fully recovered from her surgery. Then to the groomers for some pampering . I posted a little clip in the video section of her and Sunshine checking out the new digs . So far they tolerate each other they will be best of friends soon I bet . Bye for now , Steve |

Update Well unfortunately things didn't work out between her and Sunshine so Mindy is back here with me. Sue and Steve are awesome and were very sad it didn't work out, but they were putting Sunshine first of course. And I am grateful to them for all they have done for Mindy, and me:) Needless to say I am in search of another home. This time i will be looking for a home with absolutely no other dogs. She is just a dog that wont have it any other way. hugs |

Sorry it didn't work out for Mindy...but, could you entertain the thought of surrendering her to a local breed specific rescue? As a foster mom for YTNR (Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Adoptions and Shop), I can assure you that this would be the best chance for her to first be in a foster mom's home dedicated to securing a family & home for this little girl. They are experienced in screening potential homes and thus reducing the chances of her being adopted & returned when things don't work out. Here is a list of rescues that could help Mindy: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...nizations.html |

I talked to a retired couple yesterday evening who are interested in Mindy. They live half the year here and the other half in Florida. Their shih tzu died at age 17 last year and now they are ready for another dog. They are coming to meet Mindy Monday and if all goes well I will go meet them at their home after I check references (and with their vet). And if everything works out she will have a new home. They sound like good people and have no other dogs. Wish us luck;) |

I have actually sat in the Vet's office and heard first hand people bring in a relative or friends dog to be put down because the owner passed away and there were no other plans for this pet set in place. Please make sure you consider the "age-factor" into this placement. |

My adoption agreement states there must be a plan in place, and that I will take the dog back no matter what. Some folks retire earlier then others and as far as I know they are in their late 50's. Even if in 60's that is still young to me. Unfortunately nobody can predict how long they will live. I could go tomorrow and then what? Ya i have a husband but he wouldn't know what to do. This is something of course we all should prepare for...ugh.. thanks.. |
