Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | WHY and how can they demand proof of anything ? That makes not one bit of sense Strays can't be adopted ? What the HE** is the point of being called a 'shelter' ? Stray or dropped off pets dont run around with their papers even if they ever had them and many people don't have tags displayed on their dogs ....mine have them but don't 'wear' them - we dont use collars...especially on small dogs ! That's not a shelter - it's a death trap with a misleading name. That makes me sick. |

| Jodi, someone is checking on him this morning. Probably won't know anything until around 11AM Eastern time.

The reason for requiring current proof of rabies is that Gaston County had a terrible rabies outbreak in the late 90's. The thinking is that a stray could have been exposed to rabies and since there is an incubation period, people who adopted strays without tags could be at risk. They hold them for three working days to see if their owners claim them, then destroy them on the 4th day in gas chambers. I just pray we hear something soon. I tossed and turned last night thinking about that poor little guy.

| This little guy is microchipped. He has been out before. Hopefully, the owner will pay the fines and take him home. If not, we are going to be notified. I hope they find a way to keep him safe in the future.

The cynical side of me has to ask, do you think they were being honest?

I find it odd they said he was picked up when they first opened.

| Wonderful news!!!!!!!! Since this guy was picked up on Friday and we had a big snow and ice storm here in North Carolina Friday night, it's quite possible the owner wasn't able to get there to reclaim him before this morning. Schools and government offices were still closed yesterday and many were on a delay this morning because of black ice. I'm just so glad he is out of that horrible place! |

| i think they were being honest. when i first called the woman knew immediately which dog i was referring to and said he'd just been reclaimed. i am generally a decent judge of people and this lady had no hesitation and if anything, seemed relieved herself. i do not think there is anything else to it.

| OK...NOW I get it. When she spoke with them it was before they opened! They open at 11AM and she spoke with them at 10:15 AM. So....yes, he was picked up when they opened! PHEW! I surely hope they hold on to that cutie pie!
