Donating YT 11K Club Member | I agree, do your backround work and make sure they are what they say. Also that they can afford to take her to the vet, get her spayed, etc. And that they will. Please be careful, she has been thru so much. I would hate to see her go to the wrong hands.

| Thank you all so much for such a positive response in finding a forever home for Lolita. She's not mine, and I don't have the final say so as to where Lolita ends up but I do hope it's a YT member. Nobody loves their Yorkies like a YT member loves their Yorkies. I've got the okay from the hubby, and have extended the offer, to foster Lolita until a permanent, loving, forever home can be found for her if need be so the owner will not be rushed into any decision. To my knowledge she's been trying to do a good job thus far screening people so I have confidence that she will continue to do so. If the owner doesn't post updates here I will post them as I become aware of them.

| Good post. Also, I'd just like to add that what you were saying about her running back in her crate and being use to staying in there for hours. An ideal home for her would be someone that is a stay at home or work from home. I'm involved with rescue and have seen dogs like Lolita. I'm not sure of her background but from your description it appears that she was in a kennel situation where she had little contact and spent most of her time in a cage being solely used for breeding. She'll come around but I personally would NOT use the crate. We just went through this with a little male I took in in September. We got rid of his crate and instead replaced it with a bed and never looked back. A quiet home also with just another small dog would probably work out better as well. It will take some time to bring her around but they are truly the ones that appreciate the home you give them. They have so much to give. PLEASE do check references and even a home visit if possible. Best of luck. Elaine |

| I hope she finds a wonderful home. She's been thru to much pain already and needs to find happiness with a family who will have her spayed and love her completely.

| She sure is a cutie. Yes please check references and even a home visit if possible. even with people on YT. you never really know one over the computer. Id took her in a minute if I had the extra money for her or was closer. I hope she finds a wonderful loving home that she so deserves. |

| Thanks so much for caring so much! I think I may have found a good home for her, but we will see. I've talked the woman, and she is supposed to meet me tomorrow to see how Lolita reacts towards her and her daughter. But I don't know if I'm actually comfortable with her or not. She doesn't want to meet at her home which I preferred. I think I may end up backing out. I'd rather one of the people who pm me to take her, only because I've checked out a lot of the posts here, and these seem like people who genuinely care for their yorkies. I will make my decision soon. Last edited by LolitaTemp87; 05-03-2009 at 10:12 PM. |

I think your best bet would be someone from YT (someone that has been active on YT for at least a little while ~ new first time ppl I would be a tad bit concerned about ). This little girl needs someone that will be home with her to work on her issues. Wanting to stay in a crate, sounds like she hasn't had much love | |

| A BIG RED flag I just read your post about the woman who wants to adopt Lolita and not let you go to her house. You have a uncomfortable feeling that is your GUT giving you a huge red flag go with your gut and your instinct. There is a saying that... people that have nothing to hide.....hide nothing. A home visit or seeing the dogs new enviroment is part of the decision making process for a rescue person....I say give her and her daughter the heave ho! Rescued yorkies need yorkie owners that understand the breed and their needs. I am not getting that feeling from this prospective yorkie mom. People thinks that they are just a cute dog but as everyone on here I think they would agree are special little tender creatures. With that being said I do not have an alterior motive here because I want to adopt Lolita as I had said yesterday and still do. I want her to have the BEST forever home whether it is with me or another yorkie mom. But what I also said was I have many references including a vet who has been to my house personally. when my little 13 year old yorkie mix went to rainbow bridge several years ago she was sent off on her special chair at home by my loving vet. not on a cold steel vets office. I say give me a chance.......If you want to find the person that will love that little girl like she deserves you just found her....ME Loree |

You have done a good job weeding through people and yes sometimes gut instinct will give you the answer. Even though you need her to be gone soon I commend you for your efforts on taking time to look through potential homes for Lolita.
