| Im not a hero....Im just glad she was posted and got out in time and has found the home she deserved all along. Little Ella is a lucky girl. I wish they could all have cinder"ella" endings. I learned so much in my 6 weeks with Ella. I will be a better foster mom because of her and I will never look at a sad little shelter dog and consider them unadoptable. Ella turned out to be one of the cutest yorkies Ive ever seen. Also the specialist Denise took Ella to said she is more like 8 years old. So Denise will hopefully have many happy years with the little princess.

| My vet had guessed her to be more around age 10. Her teeth were very bad and when they cleaned her teeth and got a real good look at them they said she may even be younger. So I wasnt very suprised that her vet estimated 8 My understanding is it is an educated guess and can be off by several years??? Im sure ladyJane could probably give more accurate info on this than I? They also can estimate how many litters they have had? Which I had no idea.

Sometimes they get tagged as being older because they come to us looking so beat up. The teeth are a good way to estimate, but when they are covered with tartar it makes it more difficult. It is not uncommon for them to trim a few years or even add a few after the dental is done. I have never heard one say how many litters, but I have heard them say that a uterus was *mature looking* meaning it was obvious there were many litters. The eyes can also be a way to tell, but not just the evidence of cataracts because those can be congenital. My vet said that the opthamologists can tell the age...some kind of instrument they use for viewing. I honestly forget exactly what she said. | |

| I wish I would make the time to come here more..I need to do that. I wish I had checked my in box a couple of months ago. This has been one of the best feel good stories I have ever read. I feel as tho I know little Ella and I can promise you that having an almost daily update on her progress along with the pictures was amazing. I can relate to so much of the story because I have my own little puppy mill rescue, Marley. llcornell. What an amazing, warm, caring and loving person you are. And your husband too!!!! You used much common sense, and compassion and pure love to help this little girl.... I know that you got very attached to Ella..Being a foster has to be such a jumble of emotion. But where would little girls like Ella end up without people like you? I just want to thank you for being such a good person. Thank you for caring and sharing and well..... for just being you. |

| Thank you everyone for the nice compliments. I absolutely love being a foster mom. I hate when they leave but I know there are so many others that need help. So I will continue to do everything I can to help. I would like to one day say I have helped as many as ladyjane has. She continues to amaze me. Her dedication is inspiring.
