I emailed them asking for help. They are a charity organization. they are closed for the night. Hopefully we will get answers tom. Is the baby on pain meds? I do have a lot left over from Armani's neuter that he never got. I will gladly turn them over. Also, where is he? and how old is he?
It breaks my heart that he is in pain for over a week. I look at Armani and cant imagine him being in pain and not being able to do anything. Of course I have no children and I am in college and work lol, so I am only responsible for myself and him, no children. However, i think that anytime a family or person takes on an animal of any kind they should be prepared for the financial Long term responsibilies. Anyways, I guess I am just upset and feel helpless. Hopefully someone answers us. I dont understand how a vet cannot help, when they say they love animals.
Try my vet at aspen commons animal hospital, I do think his heart is all about the animals and perhaps he will be willing to help.

Thank you!!! I don't know all the details [will have to ask Trish] but I do believe she told me that he is about 1 1/2 yrs. old. I'm like you, I can't bear the thought of him being in pain, especially for this long. I think that this baby has a very loving home and that the man probably never dreamed he would be in this financial situation [having gotten his back broken]. But you're right, we should all be prepared for unexpected emergencies with these babies.

Hopefully some vet will find it in his heart to help him.

Default Planned Pethood

Hi,

I am brand new to this forum and joined yesterday. I am here to learn more about Yorkies.

I am replying because my friend was fostering an Italian Greyhound this past summer and she broke her leg. The vet quoted a few of $3000 to fix her leg as well, which was too much for my friend. He searched all over metro denver--including MaxFund. He found an organization called Planned Pethood Plus. The entire procedure--operation, cast, and follow-up visits cost about $600.00. Here is a link to the website: http://www.plannedpethoodplus.com/ and was less than Max Fund. He found the staff at Planned Pet Hood Plus to be effective and caring.

I hope that this helps!

This reminds me a little of Bernie's story. When he was turned over to rescue, he had been hit by a car and left for dead. His pelvis and leg were broken...the rescue, like any other, did not have the funds for the several $1000 surgery. I wish I could tell you exactly what they did, I know they had fundraisers...I met several people who worked on Bernie's fundraisers at their annual event last year.

What about Chopstix? Does anyone remember all the fundraising that went on for her (him?)...

Does your rescue have a website? Can we all get the word out to the "dog-loving" world through email, etc., to check out his story and donate??? I would happily attach his story/website etc. to emails to anyone I think might be moved to donate. If everyone her got the word out to just a few people...

I know there are lots of people out their who will donate to save a little rescue guy.

Good luck! Let me know the rescue's info, website, etc...I'll donate.

I've sent the rescue's link to everyone I know...now if we all did the same.

Come on people, we've raised over $300 for flowers before ...we can do this

One question. Is it possible to get the little guys pic on the website??? As goofy as that sounds, I think it'd help.

I don't see how we can help from the website? I am not using the D word to get anyone in trouble but it would help if we had a link to paypal or something.

There is a button on the website to use for the D word..., and they accept paypal. And his story is there.

I'm sorry you do not have the funds to help this little guy. this happens alot actually. i've seen it first hand since i'm a tech for an orthopedic surgeon. You all ask why the vet doesn't fix it for free or for a lower price. Its because there are so many of these cases that the vet cannot accept one and turn down another. If he did these surgeries for free the vet would be losing out on lots of money. Its not just about the money but i think sometimes people forget that vets are trying to make a living too. most are in debt up to their eyeballs from paying for vet school.

Have you guys tried calling one of the rescues over here like united yorkie rescue or rescue me? Would a bigger organization have more money to help this little guy?

Another thing to consider is amputation. if you cannot afford to fix the leg perhaps you can see what the price would be for an amputation, usually they are much cheaper. The dog will adapt quite well and won't even notice after a few weeks. instead of putting the dog to sleep this is a much better option, IMO.
