| what do you think of dog food from the dollar store??! Ok I just got a yorkie/silky and I was in the dollar store getting him toys and such, you know the small things. While there I saw A LOT of people buying their dog food from there, don't want to be monkey see monkey do and not sayin that's where I brought my dog food I went to petco but it would be nice to save a few bucks and gas also, which I don't mind just sayin it would be nice. anywho I want to know your opinion on this?? I know the food has a lot of corn n such but some I read the ingredients and the first 4 or 5 ingredients was meat ... Idk just very curious! My baby is 8 months old and had to be shaved (damn fleas!) But he sure do love stretching out in front my fan lol |

| Corn is not good to be in dog food. I don't buy anything for my dogs at the dollar store. Most of that junk is made in China and often can have very toxic stuff in it. I bought some dog beds from a place called XSCargo here in WEst Coast Canada, I don't know if it is in the US. They sell junk pretty much but i thought these beds were ok. I noticed some of my dogs scratching over time, they seemed a little off some coughed or snuffled more than usual. I had washed those beds numerous times. Then I stuck my face right into one and took sniff. OMG it smelled like pure chemical. I threw them all out and my dogs aren't scratching and all the other symptoms disappeared. Stick to better quality foods from Petco and toys as well. You will have a healthier dog for it. |

| I personally would never buy anything from the dollar store for my fur babies. I get their food from a local boutique, only bc nobody else carries them. It might cost a little more, but I will spend whatever I can afford for them & I can eat cup o noodles loll! In all seriousness, it's what your dog does best on when it comes to food. Mine can't tolerate any grains (their #2 gets a little soft, indication of allergies or food intolerance), so they eat grain free kibble. I just recently found out that their kibble has 'natural ingredients' in it, so the endless search for the perfect kibble goes on... Love the pic, he's so happy!

| The only things I get at the dollar store are gift bags, foil pans, stuff like that. I would not buy any food products, either for dogs or people there. I just don't trust it. Buy the very best quality food you can for your dog. |

| I agree! I think it's just to much of a risk to take.

| The only edible things I might trust sort of from the Dollar Store is well-known brands in the package such as Snickers candy bar, Coca-Cola and other well-known brands of snack foods. The off labels - I don't know anything about what kind of factory they were produced in and what type of swamp or rat-infested hole that food might have come from, let alone what the food itself is like and what was done to it in the growing process of its basic ingredients, its storage, transport, cooking and things like that. Just don't trust myself or my dog to eat off brand foodstuffs. So I wouldn't let my Tibbe eat something from the Dollar Store unless it happened to be a brand I knew and then I would wonder why they were selling it and if it were really contraband from China or something. I'd pass.

| I think no thank you please. I shop at Dollar Tree. I boycott Made in China items and still shop there often for office school supplies best wine glasses we have ever had are from there and the cutest oil and vinegar dicanters. Yorkie AKC note pads holiday decorations etc...not pet food though even the AKC dog treats are from China...no bueno. The food there is corn based no bueno either. Its not about cost to me more $$$ doesnt mean better its about quality of and the type of ingredients.

| i wouldn't buy any dog food from the grocery store or dollar store for my dog.. if you had a larger breed dog you might be able to get away with it, but yorkies are so small and they eat so little that it's important that the food they do eat be of higher quality. you just have to experiment and find what food is right for him, every dog is different. a lot of higher end brands will offer samples of their product, i think there's a thread for that around here somewhere as a matter of fact. miles is eating blue buffalo life protection for small breed dogs and he's doing really well on it.. his digestive systems stays very regular, which helps with potty training, another plus |

| I usef to say grocery store dog food was bad...but its sunjective to where you shop and what they stock. We shop at the Co-op a prinarily organic whole foods market that carries only pet foods of similar nature.

| To be perfectly honest - it depends on the situation. If it came down to a dog starving to death or eating dollar store dog food I would say feed it the dollar store food. We feed ours Orijen and will continue to do so unless their tests come back questionable...which they never have. |

| i agree in the long run if you spend a lil more on healthy products it will pay off when they are in their senior years.
