| Tearless Shampoo for Face I'm not great at keeping soapy suds out of Yoshi's eyes during bath time (especially when it's time to rinse). I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good "tearless" shampoo that I could use only for his face only. Yesterday, I purchased some Tropiclean Spa Facial Scrub. I suppose I like it ok. But I don't know if it's "tearless". My other concern is that I'd still have to use a conditioner on his face & I'll probably get that in his eyes Right now, I'm using Isle of Dogs on his body/legs. I tried a sample of MinkSheen and loved it. I haven't used YSS yet. But I was thinking about ordering that today to try it out. But I doubt that YSS is tearless. In a perfect world...I'd love to get a tearless shampoo/conditioner in one (like MinkSheen). Any suggestions? Thanks =)

| Hi Teresa, My Max went through a terrible period of eye corneal ulcers and a major factor was bath time problems. I do 2 things now: I use only SPA facial wash and I make sure the water I pour on his head is very cool. I still do my best to keep the shampoo away from the eyes and then I rinse as quickly and thoroughly as possible using a measuring cup to pour water over hid head. I keep refilling and pouring. Then I use cotton balls to keep rinsing right around the eyes. We haven't had an eye problem since switching to this facial scrub and making sure the water isn't too hot.

| I skipped conditioner on the head for a long time after Max's troubles, but now I am getting braver and putting it on the boys' beards and mustaches a bit. We still don't put it on top of the head. Conditioner is definitely not tearless. If I find the boys' topknots needs conditioning, I use Vellus Satin creme. It is a leave in product that dog exhibitors like. Wish I carried it in my store, but the company does almost all of their own online retailing.

| I use the Spa facial scrub too. I love this product. I put the product on my fingertips and gently work it from the top of the nose down through the beard and do the same on the top of the head and ears. I also use a cup to rinse. I do use conditioner but I put it into my hands first and just work it through the ends of the facial hair and the topknot hair. I have never used it around the eye area. I will try the cotton ball tip too!!

| I use Kissy Face Pet Facial. It has a small brush that I use as well. I then use a washcloth to get the cleaner off their face. I do not use shampoo or conditioner on their faces. Only the facial scrub.

| I've never used any special shampoo on his head, I don't like using 2 different shampoos in once.. Right now I'm using Pet Head Fears for Tears, for the whole body, I like it ! It has Kiwi and Apple smell, so good. He has a short cut so I dont have to worry about matting, so I don't know if its any good for matts. I also use it for my cats ! I love it, they are all so soft after bathtime and smell nice

This is whT we use too -- the kind that comes out Ina foam and can out right on her face, works great!

I just try to work quickly. The facial shampoos like Spa and Espree rinse out easier than regular shampoo. It's still a chore with Max because he has so much hair on his head. Not just long, but lots of it.

| I use Minksheen in a pump dispenser (recycled from hand soap). I save on shampoo and it is easier to rinse the foam. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Suggestions on Waterproof mat for under Dog pen Hello everyone , Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to a kind of waterproof mat for under my pen . I get my puppy on July 14 so I am trying to get everything in place. Only need stairs and crate and food , but waiting till a few days before to get that. Also would puppy wipes be a good alternative for the head area. I am so afraid of getting water in the ears. A cotton ball is a great idea for the eye area and just water. Thanks for that info. |
