My Max went through a terrible period of eye corneal ulcers and a major factor was bath time problems.
I do 2 things now: I use only SPA facial wash and I make sure the water I pour on his head is very cool.
I still do my best to keep the shampoo away from the eyes and then I rinse as quickly and thoroughly as possible using a measuring cup to pour water over hid head. I keep refilling and pouring. Then I use cotton balls to keep rinsing right around the eyes.
We haven't had an eye problem since switching to this facial scrub and making sure the water isn't too hot.
