| Witch Hazel So recently, Milo has had issues with a stinky face. I mean a day after his bath his face is stinking, repeat face cleaning and his face still stinks. Can't explain the smell. But I know that the smell is coming from his tear stains and his ears. So in comes witch hazel, cleared his stinky face right up. Now, we just have stinky ears. So my question, has anyone used witch hazel in their pups ears or use an astringent like witch hazel for ears? The face is one thing, ears are another issue, not comfortable with this idea so much. Also if anybody has had any experience with witch hazel I'd like to hear that about that as well. I am seriously considering adding witch hazel to his grooming regimen. At least until we get the tear stains dealt with.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm wondering if there is a yeast infection, please don't put anything in ears without asking a vet first. You might cause a serious problem. I've read that smelly ears should always be checked out by vet.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Witch hazel is a very good product, but when it comes to the ears, stinky ears usually hide an underline issue, it can be as small as hairy ears that hold humidity, ears must be clean and kept dry, I have to clean my Prada's ears every two weeks, I have to remove the hairs inside her ears clean it with an ear rinse and apply a drying ear cream, ear mites usually cause a smell too and ear infections, so you need to check for all that and develop an ear cleansing regiment. hugs, |

| Your dog needs a vet not witch hazel.

| Witch Hazel can really dry out the skin as well, you have to be careful. |

| Stinky ears usually means eat mites or ear infection or maybe just bad collection of wax and hair. I'd take him to the vet and find out what is causing that. They should not smell.

| Angel Eyes is what I use and have always used for tear stains on dogs. The smelly ears though should be check out by a vet like everyone else said. I had the same issue with Ralph and it turned out to be wax, so they gave me prescription spray that i put in his ears about once every two weeks and I have never had the problem again (: |

| Vet Solutions I've been using Vet Solutions Ear Cleansing Solution for almost 2 years now and love it... my vet sells it as well and highly recommends it, however I order thru amazon because of the lower price. It last a REALLY long time and smells wonderful. Super easy too, just pour directly in each ear, massage, and then let your baby shake out the excess. I also like that it is self drying and acidify's so it takes out excess moisture. There's no need to wipe it out. I do this weekly before her bath, and have NEVER had any problems with her ears, smelly or otherwise. In fact, when snuggling her, I can't keep my nose out of her ears I say if the vet gives a clean bill of ear health, then give it a shot.

| Ears and Eyes Ears and eyes are connected and if you have ear infection in one ear usually the dog will show weeping eye on same side if only one is affected. I keep ears trimmed on longer haired breeds. Our little Pom/Pek male has ear problems and I use the ear wash first and also use an antibiotic on him every now and then....provided by my vet. I keep eye out as it seems to be his left ear that always gets it and we treat it and it goes away, but has come back...once they show this tendancy it becomes routine for that dog to check ears and eyes. Our little Andy sees me coming with the ear wash bottle and he takes off looking for mama to protect him. |
