Buddy Belt Question

The two sizes are a pretty big difference between them. It sucks because he's all like allll the way tightened on the 6 but he's all the way loosened on a 5. The 6 just seems too big for him, when he walks the leg holes kind of "pop out" if that makes sense... I can see that it's not fit very snug around his body but if I move up a hole, then it's TOO tight. Odd thing is too that the 6 is actually softer than the 5 (I know it takes some breaking in anyways but I thought it was odd that the 5 was a harder leather).

I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep any of them As much as I love how it looks on him... it just seems not to fit his body type right. I dunno, I'm still gonna decide... but I can't stand how the 6 has that bulkiness thing on top from the d-ring, that just annoys me LOL and it just doesn't seem like it'd be comfy for him (he sleeps on his back and rolls over alot) so to have that big ole' thing on his back can't feel good.

I can understand how you feel! I love the look of the BB and have one for my yorkie...but it doesn't seem to matter which size I try, I can't get my schnauzer into one in a comfortable manner. (She is also somewhere btw the 5 & 6). I once talked to a BB rep and they suggested they would be coming out with some new "styles"...in that the space between the two leg holes could be made narrower, that seems to be the issue with Georgie. Her chest is too narrow for the 6 to fit correctly, but the 5 isn't long enough to go up and around her shoulders properly. (Hope I'm explaining it clearly) What it comes down to really is body shape...and right now the BB doesn't work for my schnauzer's body.

Wow! That is a big difference in size!

I will say that when I first ordered the larger size 4 for Max, I thought it was way to big, including the arm holes. Over time, it just molded to his body and worked. However, there is no guarantee that this would happen for Jackson.

If Jackson usually sleeps on his back, I can understand that the belt would not be comfortable, even when the bulky thing settles into place.

He looks so great in the BB. Tough decision. Grrr!

That's exactly it! Jackson actually kind of has a Schnauzer-type body so maybe it's just his body type isn't fit right for it.

Ahhh, I know, I LOVE the way it looks on him. So handsome! I dunno, I still may try to make the 6 work. I'm going away this weekend and return home on Monday so I'll have all weekend to decide, LOL!!! Yay for South Carolina

If the BB doesn't work, MAYBE I'll give the ChokeFree a try (in a bigger size) and see if I like it any better. I'm starting to think I'm just anti-leather, hahaha. But no I really do love the BB, I just wish they had an in between size. Why does my dog have to be awkward shaped?!?!

I still vote size 6. The bulkyness will soften over time. You can also add in the faux sheepskin to take up some of the roominess in the armholes too. I like to put the BB on top of clothes rather than underneath bc the little ring can be hard to find thru those little leash holes sometimes to attach the leash. Plus I like to show off we have one LOL

LoL, problem is Jackson like never wears clothes, hardly ever anyways. He won't be wearing clothes probably til this October-November. Maybe by the end of this year, they will offer more half sizes. I dunno yet!! Maybe I'll just keep the 6 for the winter, ha

Took Jada and Bogie out for their first walk wearing their Buddy Belts today. I used individual leashes instead of my coupler. I returned both BB harnesses. I was sad to do it, but I think the sizing just did not work for Jackson. The 6 just seemed entirely too big but the 5 was certainly too small. If they ever come out with a half size, I will be ready to try it!

For now, I guess I'm still stuck with Puppia on the search for something even better, but am happy with Puppia for now. Summertime and by the beach will be a problem though just because the sand clings to it, but oh well, we'll work it out when we get there.

Maybe I'll give the ChokeFree a try, there's a listing on ebay for $35. But I don't know, I'm beginning to think I'm anti-leather, LOL

Awww!!! Sorry Brit, I know you really wanted one to work out!!! I actually returned the size 2 for Snick and am waiting for the 3 now since they ordered it for me. I didn't know but the 3 Dog Bakery return policy is exchange only!!! WOW, the 3 better work or I'm going to have buy something else for 45 bucks!!!! Geez!

Very cute! I really didn't mean to scare you away from the coupler. It does work with some pups, just not mine.

Aww, I'm sorry Brit. Too bad BB doesn't have a half size for Jackson. It is not a matter of Jackson having an "awkward" shape as you wrote above! (smack yourself for me , he has a beautiful body) He is just in between sizes.

Keep searching for the perfect harness for beach wear. Does Puppia have one that isn't mesh? Jackson looks awesome in his Puppias.

That is fine you didn't scare me. It just made me decide I would give it another try with two leashes and it worked perfectly. I think my problem with walking them before was the type harness I was using. They honestly don't even act like they can tell they have a harness on with the Buddy Belt. I had to order Jada a matching leash and we are Harley riders and I ordered Bogie a black HD leather leash. The bling bling leashes are pretty, but they look kinda cheap with their Buddy Belts.
Tried the coupler again yesterday and I have to say I prefer two leashes now

Glad to hear that 2 leashes are working well. The first time I put Max in a BB, he was the same way -- didn't know he was wearing anything and he stayed close to my side.
