Carrying Purse question Hi, I have a carrying purse for my Jeannie; however, the clip that it has inside to attach to the dog's harness or collar (harness in my case) is short in lenght. I don't want to leave jeannie in there lose as she get excited with people and I would be so scared that she will try to jump out. Has this happened to anyone? Do you have any ideas as to how I can remedy this? Is there something that I can attach to make it longer? Help.... Thanks

Maybe you could just find a inexpensive leash and cut to the length you would like and cut the other one off and stitch or glue a new one on? Don't know if that would be worth it but it might work. I would think you would have to be really careful on the length you want though, you wouldn't want her to have any chance of getting caught up in it or of her hanging out of the bag too far.

I could probably try doing that. It actually might work. And, yes, I will have to be careful with the length..with the one it currently has she can barely lie down because it's not long enough. Thanks for the idea.

Another suggestion would be to buy some elastic, prefereably the thinnnest one you can find, and cut it to size. I had a similar challenge with my dog carrier and that is how i fixed it. I stitched the elastic to the seam, I removed the old clasp and attached it to the elastic. It worked like a charm. The good thing is that since it is an elastic, it goes back into place. I hope this was useful.

I really like this idea. I think it will be more comfortable for her. How did you attach the clasp to the elastic without the risk of it breaking off? Thanks

That sounds even better, then you don't have the expense of buying a new leash just to cut it up. I got a great deal on a bag at petco that was 34.99 on clearence for 8.49!!! The problem is that the bottom isn't solid enough to prevent the bag from "folding", if that makes sense. I am going to have my husband make something for the bottom to make it more solid and I have a very inexpensive bag! It's nice to make things work with just a little adapting!! Now if I ever figure out where I will use this, I'll be all set. Good luck with your project. Debbie

I used a good quality nylon thread that is king of like fishing wire. If there is a fabric store that you would buy this from please ask them. if all fails a good quality upholstrey thread will work fine.

Thanks again Oceansoracle. The plexi glass worked great! The bag had a padded bottom with a zipper on it so I just slid the plexi glass under the pad closed the zipper and it worked perfectly. Wonderful idea! Love it when things work out so well.
