| Question about Belly Bands... I have purchased some belly bands for Sebastian from various places. I bought some feminie pads to put inside. I was just wondering how often it is ok to use these? Will his skin get irritated or chafed from the pad if he wears them too much? I'm not planning to have him in them 24/7 or anything, just wondering what an acceptable amount of time seems to be. If the puppy does get irritated what do you do? Thanks for your advice!

| Just don't let him sit in a wet band for a long time and he'll be okay. If he were to get irritated I would make sure all urine is wiped off his skin and let him dry out without a band for awhile until it gets better. If you use a Poise pad or other incontinent pad, the are the same as baby diapers and tend to draw the wetness away from them. My boys wear them all day and they are off at night while they are in their crates. I have never had a skin problem from this.

| Thanks so much for your response! I got the incontinent pads because that was what I read was best. So, I'm glad I did the right thing. I would definitely be checking them at least once every hour or two when he goes out to go potty. Do you think that is enough? Thanks again for your response! Btw, I got my batman and nemo bellybands today. They are sooooo cute!

Glad you got your bands! I thought the Nemo one turned out especially cute! I just love the colors. I will post a picture so others will know what we're talking about. Nemo.JPG I don't think you need to check that often (if all you are worried about is skin irritation). Three or four times a day is plenty. But if you are trying to train them to keep them dry and take them off when you take them out, yes, I would probably check them that often if possible.

| ive seen these before and they look pretty good! for a while i had Kaya in a reusuable dog diaper by the same company bc i didnt want her to pee in my friends house when we came by to visit. it worked pretty good. i just made sure it was snug so it didnt slip and make sure hes dry! if his skin doesnt have a chance to dry thats where youll see problem. just make sure you check it often and clean him up. and you should have good resulkts |

| I have gotten mine off of ebay from someone with screen name of pamela2781 the ones she makes don't have the wide band all the way around (the wide band is only on the tummy) and seems more gentle to the coat. Pic below, I have purchased twice, 2 for 5.00 for black and 2 for 7. cammo Never had a skin problem. |

| Change them out often. A rinse off now and then will go a long way. I use the disposable wipe type cloths when out and about. And most importantly give the skin a chance to air out. They are a life saver for those of us with determined markers, excited urinators, incontinent older guys, or/and late neutered males.

| I made a bunch of them for Madison and I check him all the time to see if they're wet. Sometimes he wriggles so much, rubbing his back on the carpeting, that he gets it turned around and then he gets the band itself wet instead of the pads. This way, I can just toss the wet one into the washing machine and pull out another one. When I let him go out, I try to take it off him before he goes and I've got some wipes nearby to clean him when he comes in. I also use the wipes when I change the pads....I think the Poise type pads do a pretty good job of wicking the moisture away from his skin, but I don't want to take any chances, so I wipe his skin off and wait a bit for it to dry before I put the band back on. I haven't had any problems so far, and I think they look pretty cute (mine are like the Nemo one).

| Thanks everyone! I will definitely keep an eye on them. A belly band is something you wrap around your male yorkie's lower belly (over his wee wee ), to prevent him from urinating in your house. My guy is pretty good on my main level now, but I was still finding some small spots under the table, I think from when he was getting overly excited during play time. So, these will be a life saver for play time and when I want to allow him to be in other areas of the house where he is not so reliably trained.

Omg ... the nemo one is cute!!! My Archie loves to go downstairs. So everytime he comes up I usually have to run downstairs and check every corner. But with the band I just check the pad. Saves me alot of time.

| Do they really not just slide right out of these things? I could REALLY use one with Sebastian because he likes to hike EVERYWHERE... but he's soooooo tiny, it seems like he'd slip right out of them in a second.... Also, I'd prefer the satin / silk lined ones since I like to keep his coat long... which means, even slipperier! (is that a word?)
