| My beautiful yorkie is barking and like a well trained owner I am responding. Please help me regain some control. She just start and I have been using a gentile plant mister filled with water and saying "no bark" when she does it. Is that cruel? It is a gentile house plant mister. Not a harsh stream or anything. It has been very cold here and I haven't been able to exercise her like I normally would but she keeps barking at me and it's making me a little on edge. Plus I have a sheltie. What was I thinking???? Please help. |

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ozzie slept in the kitchen for several years (where his papers are) because he couldn't be trusted to have run of the house at night. The next few years he slept with my mom. For the past year, he has spent weekend and vacation nights with me (because I have to go to work; Mom is retired). During the past several months, he has become my "breathing stuffed animal" just about every night. He spent the weekend in ICU and just came home yesterday. While he can be a real bed hog, I have to admit that I REALLY missed him those few nights! He is so funny. He will flop down by me when he is ready to go to bed (if I am watching TV or online) and sometimes he will grunt as if to say "Aren't you ready yet?" When I AM ready, I always give him the option of sleeping in his own bed (which he does sometimes) by asking, "You want Yorkies to fly?" This started because as we were getting into bed, he initially would bring me one of his babies which I would throw onto the bed and then gingerly "toss" him up so he could retrieve it. |

| Both of them shares our bed. Samantha is somewhat torn between sleeping with her pups or with us, as she has not slept anywhere else but with us since she came on board. The first few days since she had her pups, we really saw her struglling, she tried to sneak in her pups by carrying it unto our bed one at a time, but we caught it and told her no (we don't want to chance it & squash the babies). She kind of mellowed out a bit, perhaps it is due to the pups would sleep more now than nurse, so we see her climbng on our bed every now and then just to cuddle. Then, when she hears one of her pups whimper, off she goes and be with them. It is so amazing how the maternal instinct kicks in. Then, when she is on the bed with us, she stays on the side where she has a good view of her pups. It is indeed a cute sight, kinda give you a warm & fuzzy feeling that this one is a very caring mom. One thing for sure, can't wait until the pups are old enough to join us!!! |

Aren't we glad to learn we're "not necessarily" aberrant? LOL My DH, too, was adamant that Abigail would not sleep with us. He was so concerned that we would roll over and squish her. She could fall asleep with me if I went to bed first, but then he always returned her to her own bed when he came in. Well, that lasted a few months. Now, she sleeps in the crook of my knees or at my tummy. And she's really good about feeling when I move and getting out of the way - most times. Usually, though, it's me being aware of her and scooching her over in my half-awake daze! It seems I'll be having surgery in March, and I gotta tell ya - one of my hospital concerns is I don't think I'll be able to sleep in a bed all to myself!

| I LOVE having my two oldest sleep with me. Baby Brea isn't quite ready yet. She sleeps in her crate on a recliner in my room. The other day I went up to my room and took Brea with me. I ended up lying down for for a few minutes and brought her up on the bed with me. She looked at me like she had just won a prize! She sniffed around for a couple of seconds and then cuddled up right next to my face and went to sleep. She was in doggy heaven! |

| I guess I'm a mean yorkie mom, but I don't let Corkie in bed. For one thing, he runs hot and cold. At night I cafefully tuck him into bed as he likes and then get into my own. Around midnight he usually jumps out of his bed from under his blanket and lies on the wood floor for awhile to presumably cool off. By morning he's back in his bed. Our bed is so high, he could never do this as he can't jump off and couldn't jump back in. He has sofa privliges and is never locked up anywhere so I guess we make up for lack of bed privileges down the line. |

| My toy poodle always slept under the covers on top of my right leg. For 16 years. Tink has just started sleeping in the bed - kind of. She lays on top of the covers for a few minutes, and then gets into her bed which is on the bed next to me. Then she get back out and lays on the covers, and then back in her bed and over and over for about an hour (in between, playing with her toys). I let her out of her crate a couple of weeks ago to sleep with me because she was waking me up every 2-3 hrs. to potty. I put a diaper on her to let her sleep with me so I could get some sleep. Ha Ha. That didnt work. Hope she gets her spot figured out her pretty soon, or it's back in the crate with that little girl. |

| My baby does not sleep with be throughout the night; he's happily in his crate until about 6 a.m. when he lets me know he wants to go "pee-pee." After his bathroom break, I swab him down with baby wipes and he comes into bed with me for a few hours, right under the covers. He attaches himself to my leg or side and close as he can, or he climbs up on my shoulder to rest his little peanut head. It's just really yummy and I wouldn'y trade it for anything. Yeah -- he probably does think he's the boss -- and he's right! The world won't stop tunring!
