| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Does anyone know if turkey vultures will pick up a yorkie?? We have so many of them here and they seem to sometimes circle right where we are. I heard they only eat dead things, but I just want to make sure?? I always freak out anyway and pick Lola up when I see one close. |

| LolaLove, We have those turkey vultures here in TN too. I hate to see them flying around the farm - it's never a good sign. I have always heard they only eat dead things too, but yesterday when I was out with my litte Bonnie, one flew over and checked her out. It scared me! we hurried into the house and I asked my husband if they only eat dead stuff. He said yes, but I am not taking any chances. I mean, if they are hungry enough... |

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I just heard an owl last night, and was so frightened about letting Lola out to go to the bathroom. Hopefully, the chances are more unlikely if they're on a leash?? Does anyone know?? I'm worried, because now I know there's an owl around here, and I want to be extremely careful. Also, do you think they will try and feed during the day?? Can I let her out without a leash, during the day?? I know owls are nocturnal, but I still worry cuz I know it's around here somewhere. |

| YT Addict | This past Nov. I lost a yorkie. He wasn't even a year. Was 10 months. I am pretty sure a bird got him. my husband found him with a puncture wound in his head. Nothing else could explain it. We think that he was being lifted away and either fell or something. It was terrible. The wound was in his head. Just one puncture. That was the worst birthday ever for me. He got attack on my birthday and after fighting to keep him alive all day. we lost him at 6:00 in the evening. Watch out..the birds are nasty. My new one comes home on saturday...he will be watched every minute or pad trained. I was not going through that again. |

| I feel all yorkies no matter how big or small should not be outside alone, ever!!!!! Their are just toooooooooo many things that can happen to them, even a bee sting can be fatal, spider bite, fatal, people steal them, so many get stolen when you think they are safe in your own back yard!!!!!!! I won't even leave my home with my yorkies alone, either me or my husband is always home to make sure no one breaks in and takes any of our precious babies!!!!! You truly can not be too carefull, even on a leash a bird of prey can dive down and take them or kill them! I am enclosing all my decking area for them so I don't have to worry about birds of prey or bees!!!!! |

| That is my biggest fear! I live in a wooded area and I see Hawks everyday and I have seen owls too.Gizzie is only 2.7 lbs they could get her with no problem! I just couldn't imaging a more terrible way to die, it wouldn't be instant it would be slow and scary and painful... Im so glad lucy is ok

| It has been a year that I lost my tiny chihuahua. Just turned my back for a short while and something snatched her. It was at night and we live at the edge of the woods. I am sure it was an owl. Now, my Norwegian Elkhound, who was out at the same time, runs and barks at hawks, or buzzards flying in the sky when he sees them. |

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Oh my gosh, I cannot believe all your stories about losing your babies!!! Phyllis - I am SO thankful to have read your thread about having your Chilly on the leash. I am SOOO sorry for that tragedy you faced, and cannot imagine having that happen. I just want to let you know that by sharing your story, you absolutely just saved my little one from being taken from me, and probably many others. I am so sorry that happened to you, and I teared up when reading it. My pet bird (when I was 11) was taken off by a hawk right in front of my eyes, and I was devastated! I couldn't imagine it happening to my Lola! Thank you!! I have always been terrified of those crazy critters out there, and was beginning to think I was overreacting. After reading all your stories, I have realized I wasn't being overly cautious for nothing! I had done research on the topic earlier, but nothing compared to this thread!! I am SO thankful to be a part of this community, and learn new stuff everyday about the safety and happiness of my little one. Thanks guys!!! |
