Which Canidae Formula do they eat?
mine eat Lab & Rice formula - lower protein.

since i don't have a filter or system- what should i look for? I can buy several gallons at a time. just not sure what to get.

should i get the spring water?
Samie goes in 3 wks for her urinalysis. I stopped the tap water (what i was giving them) and started the distilled. i wonder why so many YT use distilled?

SPRING WATER in the gallon jugs at the supermarket or Walmart.

I have heard that Distilled helps with the tear stains & tear odor.
thats why I had used it for a while untill recently when someone told me about the dangers.

they are on Canidae all life stages. Samie needs to lose a pound or 2. she just isn't as active as Sadie. She is a little plump. Vet says she is not extremely overweight and that it isn't an issue for her. she is more concerned with the high amounts of crystals forming in her urine. we did xrays and checked for stones and thank god there were not any. (last monday)

she told me to stick to one food- i wanted to start them on Canidae Platinum that contains lower fat but my husband wants to go another 2 wks on the canidae and she where her levels are first. the vet said we may still have to make changes and put her on a pres diet. a different hills pres diet that does not contain corn. samie was producing crystals while on the purina nf diet so I don't think she will be able to stay on the canidae which is sad b/c they both really like it.

so we will find out what to do within the next few weeks here. I know one thing for sure- the corn based purina nf pres diet nearly killed my little dog. she was very very ill. the last 3 wks she has made a complete turn around. the vet wanted to start her on hills w/d and i fought through that and told her that i was not doing it. i was too scared. she said to keep her on the canidae and see what happens. she said not to be surprised if we need to make changes. she was more concerned with samie's ph also. it was at a 6 when she tested it and she wants it closer to 7. that's why when i tested her urine yesterday it was 5.5 on the ph test i did. and it was almost lower than 5.5. It made me nervous to see that. that's why i started the acv to her water. and now i am was thinking that maybe the distilled water may be lowering her ph too. we need to raise her ph somehow... so she will stop producing crystals. her urine is too acidic.

I clean their eyes every day so i am not concerned with tears or smell :-)
samie's eyes are so teared up every day that i had to start keeping q-tips on my kitchen counter. :-) I clean them for her each morning and again in the evening. i started doing both of my girls. they always have clean eyes and i like it better too. i keep the hair trimmed short around their eyes also. I groom them myselfs. samie also has trachea issues so we can't take her to the groomers. we used to when we lived up north (ohio) but once we moved- I could not find anyone i trusted or anyone good. so i started cutting them myself. they did have the full long coat until moving to texas. it was much easier to keep them short. not butched down :-) but puppy cuts. they like it better too i think. sadie is 10 yrs this December and samie just turned 9 7/5. i can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I worry b/c it seems like yesterday they were 1 and 2 yrs old. things start going wrong when they get older. samie already had a leg surgery- she has 3 artificial ligaments in her back right leg. they both have that luxating patella so we have stairs for them and we do not let them jump on and off the furniture..

i just assumed with our tap water being so hard maybe it could help samie with her crystal situation... less minerals.. but if it is mainly for the tears.. heck- they never have goop in their eyes b/c i got in the habit of cleaning them everyday. it only takes a second. sometimes a heavy film of goop will cover samies eyes and i have to get rid of it for her.
I have noticed that the "goop" hasn't been bad for her though. sadies though- i thought her's seemed worse. like she had more of it forming.

they have only been drinking the distilled water for a little over 2 wks now. which we are going to be changing this week :-)

i had some med issues and could not get pregnant. i will be 38 next week and my husband just turned 40. i don't know what it would be like to start having kids now we are so set in our ways :-) plus i will fing out in 3 wks if we are able to try to get pregnant.
i had some medical issues so we had to put having a family on hold for a while. but if we decide not to have kids rest assure we will for sure have a house full of yorkies :-) they are just like kids! love em to pieces!

Is this ok to use for dogs? I know that some diets call for using distilled water, but my dh (who's a filtration expert) told me that if I drink distilled water all the time it will "tear up my stomach" b/c it's got no minerals in it and is very corrosive. I'm confused .

ok i think all this water talk is making you go a bit crazy. lol

You don't have to get a specific type of bottled water. honestly its not going to make that huge of an impact on the crystals your dog is making.

I give Morgan bottled water only because i fill her bowl with the leftover bottles i drink. She gets Dasani most of the time. whatever we buy at the store that week is what she gets. Poland spring, aquafina, deer park. doesn't matter.

i think your only making yourself more insane over the issue.

well i went out and bought 10 gallons of the distilled water and then heard bad things about it with in containing no nutrients or anything. I have noticed a difference adding the acv to her water. today they had spring water. I really haven't done more research with it though. I have to take a break from the computer for a while. :-) falling behind in my housework :-) and every corner i turn with Samie- it's something else. Samie went this past Saturday b/c i wanted blood work done on her. Turns out she is hypo thyroid now. vet is going to do another test and we may need to give her med's everyday then. I have been so overwhelmed with vet bills it's been crazy.

i will post updates as i get more. wont' know anything for 2-3 days.
