Has anyone tried the Canisource dehydrated food. Made in Canada. My research states that even the pickest eaters will eat it. I think I will try this one. I was just wondering if anyone else has tried it. |
Thank you! This is fantastic! Thank you so much. I have been dabbling with Amelia's diet and now I feel I at least have some new tips to try! |

lifes Abundance with the recent recall for Merrick....I feel it's time for a kibble change for the girls....I am thinking about switching to Lifes Abundance...I know several YTer's feed this brand. I went to the LA site and couldn't see if it said it is a small kibble....could someone here give me some input on this food? does it make them gassy? bad breath? soft poop? I will be starting them on it gradually...but, with any new food they tend to spit out the old and eat the new! Thanks in advance! |
I just emailed Natural Balance for free samples. This is the response I got: Thank you for contacting Natural Balance and for your interest in our products. Congratulations on your new puppy! I would be happy to have samples of our small bites formulas sent for your puppy to try. The samples usually take about two weeks to arrive via UPS. I will also have coupons sent to the address you have provided. Please let me know if you have any further questions in the meantime. Have a great day! I think I like these people! And I know Harper loves the food. |
That was a very nice response from them...my dogs like it for a while and then they won't eat it |
EVO sold to Procter and Gamble My girls used to love EVO. The last bag I got I noticed the kibble looked and smelled different. The ingredients were the same, but they were picking out the old kibble. Soon they started puking! Turns out the company was sold to P&G. No wonder! My girls fav now is TOTW Wetlands, but I rotate with other kinds. |
My little gourmet Both Artemis and Natural Balance shipped me very generous samples, and very quickly. Giaco started out on the breeder's choice of Vet's Choice Health Extensions Little Bites, but tired of it at one point, so I started my search. He loves the Artemis Small breed (small kibble). He likes all the Natural Balance flavors, but it is a bit bigger so he usually eaves some in the bowl. He is a bit of a gourmet (AKA picky), so I rotate the kibble flavors with his home cooked wet food, so he doesn't get bored. He has made it clear he will not eat the same protein endlessly, so I rotate lamb, chicken and beef home cooked recipes with his kibble. I also use a great supplement called NuVet Plus which was recommended by the breeder. NuVet web site is here NuVet Labs — Home :aimeeyork:) |
So I tried this the other day...results as follows: Nature's Variety, Merrick, and Natura only offered money back guarantees (although Natura at least tried to look up a Japanese retailer for me). Solid Gold, Canidae and Wellness all sent prompt replies saying that samples were in the evening mail pickup (score!). Fromm said they were sending a coupon and has a money back guarantee also. We'll see if I can use that coupon online... Champion was the last one I tried and they only gave me the "trial size bags and money back" deal as well. I didn't try the others simply because they weren't brands I could find on Amazon...if anyone out there gets food shipped to an APO address, let me know what website you order from!!! |
so much for Natural balance...his highness will not touch it now, and BB is barely to his liking. I don't know what to do with this picky puppy! |
Thanks for posting a great list! |
Treats Please DO NOT give your yorkies any treats that are made in CHINA!!!!!! per my yorkies Vet's order!! |
1 Attachment(s) Emailed for samples of Artemis puppy food. This is what they sent me! They must really want Strudel to get addicted to this!!! |

I am mixing the dry with wet food. I use the Acana grasslands and mix with the Weruva wet food. It is rated as a 5 star and is fit for human consumption. It looks like shredded chicken. They now have organic as well. Akila eates her food in record time. She is such a picky eater. So far this is working. |
Pet food When I brought my new Yorkie Jake home, he was on Eukanuba. My older yorkie, Dunkin is on Iams. Jake wants the Iams and has not been eating his Eukanuba. I even put some grilled chicken on it and he just ate the chicken. I know there are some great foods out there and I do not care about the price as long as the quality is good. |

to do the best with Wellness canned food...Turkey and Sweet Potato. She never warmed up to any of the dry foods. I've even tried the raw diets and don't blame her at all for not liking them !! |

Petco, petsmart, pet value, etc. most pet stores have it. You can also order it online. Feed what works best for you and your dog. Welcome to the group :) |
Thanks for all your effort in doing this for everyone. That is awesome lists that you have shared.I know, I'm going to try some samples and try it to my pet. |

Three years ago I was blessed with a 1 yr old 3.5 lb female Yorkie. Blue Buffalo is the only dog food I have found she can digest. I am wondering if I should continue to leave her food out so she can eat when she is hungry or should I put her on a schedule? Because of her size I am concerned about allowing her to eat when she is hungry. :) |
We have been feeding our 4 dogs Horizon Legacy and they have been doing very well on it. It is a good grain free food with a low glycemic index. |
allowing her to eat when she is hungry I have stuck to a twice-daily feeding schedule ever since Graysee was a puppy. 6:00 AM, and 6:00 PM, with times varying within an hour, depending upon what time I actually get out of bed, get home, etc. Any additional meals would result in her resembling a football with legs! She will eat anything, any time, with few exceptions. Lately, I've been trying to break her from asking for a treat every time she asks to go out and potty; it's been hard, and I've certainly spoiled her. She IS a little overweight, even for her larger size, so it's going to be a long, hard road getting her "untrained". :aimeeyork |
Food? I guess I forgot to mention what type of food I'm feeding Graysee! She likes the Blue Buffalo foods; lately, she's been on the Healthy Weight formula, in an effort to reduce her weight by a couple of pounds! It's slow going (refer to previous post about TREATS), but she'll eventually get there. She seems to like Blue Buffalo foods, especially the little, dark brown crunchy anti-oxidant bits; she REALLY likes the "crunch"! :) |
HI! I have just started Evo with my puppy, weaning her off of puppy chow brought by the breeder - she is now 17 weeks old. What is shocking to me is her very stinky farts on this new food!! Is this part of the transition - or does it happen with a meat diet? Please forgive my post here - I can't for the life of me find how to start NEW posts - all suggestions welcome - Thanks! |
