I started receiving some of the samples the other day. Some just send one bag (Wellness, Solid Gold) but Artemis send me a huge UPS box of food. I think I can feed my 7lb Biewer for a year on what they gave me. Here is a list: (4) SOS Salmon & Brown Rice (4) SOS Duck & Brown Rice (5) SOS Lamb & Brown Rice (4) Osopure Grain Free Bison (4) Osopure Grain Free Salmon (4) Osopure Grain Free Duck (4) Pro A.L.S (8) Fresh Mix Small Breed (1) Measuring Cup I received a total of 37 bags of the stuff! I emailed them and the only thing that is concerning is that they DO get some of the ingredients from China . I do appreciate their honesty but I also am putting into consideration their reputation AND they never had a recall. |
Hello everyone,My Miyoko is 8 months old and he is currently eating a combination of Ceasar and Purina Puppy Chow... I'm looking to feed him a good quality dog food but am not sure as to what to look for in a good dog food... Any suggestions... Currently while my dog eats, he seems to belch when he is given dry food alone... |

Amicus is one of my favorite kibbles for Yorkies. Stella & Chewies and Primal are fantastic raw foods. Let me know your zipcode and I will help you find a great food locally. |
I have been feeding Graysee Wellness Core grain-free dry kibble, mixed with FreshPet Deli Select, which is found in the refrigerated section of the dog food. She seems to do better, both digestion-wise and with her elimination, as it adds more water to her diet. She typically doesn't drink enough water to keep her feces moist and easy to move. She is doing better on this diet than she did on Blue Buffalo, and she doesn't belch as much. :) :animal36 |
My breeder starts them on Eukanuba, I didnt see this in your list, Is it not a good food for them? |

Unfortunately from that list some who I really wanted to try some like Fromm replied with an offering of coupons which to me is better of not responding at all. I was the most shocked with Origen & Acana since they are so big but again was not eager to send any out. |
Samples received Hello I have emailed quite a few of the companies. I only got feedback from Artemis. They were super nice sent me a box of about 30 sample packs. My boys seemed to like it. Fromm responded and they are sending samples. Cant wait. It is really making me lean towards rotating in artemis because of their great service. I have used the food about 20 years ago for a chow and she loved it. |

Orijen & Acana is such a solid company but they refused to offer any samples, puts a sour taste in my mouth. |
I have to say I am a little upset with Honest Kitchen. Just recently purchased a huge 10 pound box of Embark in December. After using it for a few weeks I noticed that the expiration date is 1/17/2015. I have literally used one cup of it. I only feed once a day. While I emailed and the rep said do not use since it does go rancid and sorry that was all the response so I am out about 45.00. Not sure what to do with it since I only have a few more days to use. My mistake for buying such a big box but still  |

Just curious about the puppy food. There are SOOO many that you have Listed. My vet told me to feed my puppy Science Diet for puppies. He seems to be doing great on it. Does it not have enough nutrition in it for him? Any advise would be gratly appreciated! I just have not heard it mentioned on this site Thanks |
I personally wouldn't feed Science Diet (to me the ingredients are not that great). i would choose something like Framina N&D, Fromm, orijen, Acana. Fromm will be pretty close in price to Science Diet but WAY better ingredients and a better brand / company by far. |
Now fresh I am taking my boys off Simply Nourish and trying Now Fresh out of Canada. It's grain and "meal" free, no corn, wheat or soy. The kibble size is tiny, easier on my older Yorkie's teeth. Has anyone else out there had experience with Now Fresh Small Breed Adult? Their site is petcurean.com I noticed Chewy has it available in a variety of sizes. I got nice feedback after writing Fromm this morning. They are sending information and coupons. |
I feed Yoshi natures instinct chicken formula it's great! |
Thank you for this post! I just sent Solid Gold, FROMM and Artemis an email to see if they still do samples. Those three companies sound like great puppy/dog food makers. I dont want any junk or fillers in my MiMi's food. I bought Blue Buffalo Puppy Life Protection Formula but after doing some readin on this site I will be taking it back since its unopened still. I dont get my baby MiMi till later in May, so I have time to order her whats best between now and then :). |

I'm pretty impressed with what a couple of these places sent. I gave Kiki some Artemis today and she LOVED IT. I'm hoping this will be the go to food. |
I did get a response back from Solid Gold I wanted to share that they said they're no longer sending samples that they will send some coupons though. |
Hi, Im new to this forum. My mom has been feeding her 6yr old Yorkie Royal Canin but I noticed that there's pork by products in it! That has to go! Am I wrong? Now Im looking for a limited ingredient food. Hows Blue Mountain dog food? I like that there's no Soy, Corn or by products. I'll search this thread but any advice would be appreciated. |
Not much activity in this thread, anyway I'll try again. Does anyone feed their Yorkie canned Natural Balance? My little Yorkie seems to like it. We just switched over from Royal Canin which is crap. Just wanted to see if Natural Balance is as good as Fromms or Eagle Pack. |
bring home our baby Lokie today. His breeder has him o'roy dog food . should I change his food. He is 8 weeks old |
dog food My yorkies eat wellness . The complete health chicken and oatmeal. I give Jojo a little of the petite casserole chicken green beans and carrots. He loves it . One has to eat zd hills diet because he had pancreatitis. The other eats that too because she was itching so bad now is clear. I put a little steamed carrot and little bits of egg white to flavor this food. I don't like science diet but it's all they can eat. You have to be careful not to feed too much fat or too high protein. |
Thanks! Needed this post |
dog One food my spud loves is weless petite casserole chicken carrot and green beans. Low fat low protein he loves it. Vet and wellness say it's a complete food. It's all he will eat. Works out because he almost died with kidney disease. |
Thanks for sharing this. :) It will be a great help to me and everyone. :animal36:animal-pa |
I've recieved some samples. So far it seems my 4mo old loves nature's variety chicken. They send great coupons too |
Premium dog foods Some of these on this list have had recalls on there products. |
Seeking dry food recommendations Hi to all !! Newbie here, mama to MiaBella xo... I'm looking for a healthier diet for her and have been reading thru this thread. As mentioned, not so much recent activity so im thinking info may be dated & hoping for some updated advice / recommendations ?? She has been eating Merrick Grain Free Dry (also some healthy home cooking) but grain free now seems to be an issue. I was considering Artemis, but I see they source from China & Im not comfortable w/ that at all... more of a difficult decision than I had realized :( |
