| Little Red Bumps around Female Private Area? I just washed Roxy's private (pee area). I noticed she has a handful of little red bumps, like pimples around her pee area. I usually wash her privates every few days. When I am home, after she pees, I always use a tissue to wipe her dry. I have never seen these bumps before. Are they just pimples and I need to clean her more often? This is so strange The only other thing I can think of is, yesterday we went for a walk and she kept being a brat and just stopping and getting stuck in the garden area, maybe something irritated her private area? I guess I just have to clean her up every night and check to see if the bumps go away. |

| are you using baby wipes or just a cloth?? maybe the baby wipes bother her... if her skin is super sensitive.... all i can think of is to just really try and keep it clean until it clears up... |

| Have you given her a bath lately? Could she be allergic to a new soap possibly? I've had a couple of females in the past that have done this in the heat of the summer and they all cleared right up with a quick bath. It's worth trying, let us know when she clears up and what you wind up doing to get her cleared up. Hopefully it is just a little heat rash, good luck.

| Although Bobbi is a boy, he had the same problem. He had tiny little reddish to brown spots (like freckles) around his penis and belly. Turns out I cut the hair on the penis too short (it acts as a funnel) and when he was going outside and lifting his leg it would get on there and it was irritated. I am much more careful and won't be cutting his little hairs I wipe him down daily with unscented and dye-free baby wipes

| Kitty has been having those too. I took her to the vet last Friday and he put her on an antibiotic. She kept licking at it so she caused an infection. The vet said that she had an allergic reaction to something to cause the irriatation. Don't let your little one lick at it or it'll get infected too.

| It sounds like a rash from some irritation. You may want to get it checked out just in case. I think my parents' dog had something similar in the past. It was not a big problem, but it's better to be safe. I hope she'll get better soon.

| Thanks everyone. I give her a bath every other weekend. I have never seen this before. I have not used anything new on her. But with your responses, I have thought about other stuff that could be causing this. At night she sleeps wrap in a fleece blanket. We say goodnight, little taco She love to be secure, but I am thinking that maybe since the weather is warming up, it maight just be too hot for her wrapped up like that (with her legs sealed closed). She probably has heat rash. And from your responses, I now recall, that she has been licking her private the past couple of days. When I catch her doing that, I nudge her face and tell her to stop. I will wash her private with warm water and some gentle soap everyday. If it doesn't clear up soon, I will take her to the Vet on Saturday (they need their nails cut anyway)! Thanks again, your responses really made me put my 'thinking cap' on and I hope I have figured it out. Although, I am concerned if she continues to lick during the day when I am not around. I guess I would be able to tell if it turns infected, right? |

| Yes, you will be able to tell if it's infected. Kitty's private area ended up swelling like she was in heat but only half of it swollen up. It was red and blistery looking also. She's been on the antibiotic since Friday and by Sunday it was mostly cleared up. I'm glad you figured this out. Hope all clears up soon.

| Anyone have any advice on this? Kiki has a few bumps and she has brown spots in the same area that hasn't always been there

| I would have the vet check it out... I've heard that bacterial infections can cause spots/bumps on the tummy and privates. I use Coconut oil on the tummy the night before a bath, seems to do a good job at removing anything I find there.

| I will have to try that and they don't seem to bother her maybe it is the heat. I'm going to keep an eye on it

| Also, some use wipes which are generally fine, but some dogs are sensitive to them and can break out. Best to use a little warm water and a washcloth for in-between cleanups, and keep the area trimmed (not too close) to avoid ammonia burn.

| Good possibility with urine and the heat lately! Also any shampoo/conditioner not completely rinsed out could be an irritant.
