| well regardless of what caused the problem... i began doing research on various foods and came across some upsetting studies done about the Blue Buffalo brand... so both of those things put together made us change to a higher quality food... now she eats Fromms.. |

| Well, my Doxie girls eat Eagle Pack Holistic Anchovy, Sardine & Salmon Meal Formula. I've recently (3-4 weeks ago) got Go Natural! Salmon & Oatmeal and mix it with Eagle Pack. I will eventually switch them to eat Go Natural! only because I heard the dried beat pulp is the culprit in Faith's eye discharge. Queequeg eats Innova Puppy mixed with Go Natural! Salmon & Oatmeal (All Life-Stages). I'm liking the results of Go Natural! I'm already noticing a big difference in all of my girls. |

| Talk about confusion AND the effects of abruptly changing foods on a puppy........I had just started removing Science Diet adult small bits from Brandi's diet......I was mixing that with Royal Canin........her wet food was Nutro Natural Choice......which was on the recall list......I'm keeping a close eye on her......NOW!!! I've switched her completely......which reeked havoc on her stomach.....to Merricks wet (all varities) and I have samples of ALL the dry food......I have Chicken Soup (which I understand is by Diamond and had their own recall a while back).....then I have samples of Solid Gold.....Innova........Merrck dry......and California Naturals.......none of which Brandi really seems to like.....so honestly other than one or two of the Merrick wet foods I don't really see her eating much at all........I might consider home cooking for her......but I HATE home cooking for me......so realistically I know if I started it wouldn't last very long......I hope she picks up on her eating......before I really start getting worried |

| I'm wondering how many would feed baby food to their babies if there were recalls on another brand, and none were government regulated. Personally I would never feed my dogs any dog food. They are not government regulated, they do not have to put anything in it that they list on the labels, the boiling down of diseased animals would kill any vitamins that are claimed to be added, and it smells so horrible that they use rancid restaurant grease to spray on it. I would never eat something like this, so I surly wouldn't feed it to my dogs. |

| I'm home cooking for my Peanuts. They eat what I eat within reason... Much safer in my opinion! |

According to an article that I read they purchased the suspect wheat gluten from China and it contained rat poison. That is what contaminated the food. And also they apparently knew about it for quite a while before starting the recall. Do we not grow wheat in America? Of course we do - they were just getting the cheapest price! This is just another reason why I hate these companies (Iams, etc.)

| I need to listen to my better judgement more often. Anyhoo here it goes: Not to step on anyone's toe's but it is all a matter of your personal preference. I think it's great so many are able to cook their dog's home cooked meals! My mother feeds her dogs Kibble's and Bits and as much as I detest her choice it is her personal preference. I can tell her how bad it is til my face turns blue it won't change her mind (believe me I tried). I personally detest cooking for myself so cooking for my dogs is out the question. I also don't pretend to know better than scientists who have studied dog nutrition for years and formulated some pretty decent dog foods formulations in the market today Yorkiedaze, I mean this kindly, but please, please stop sending me that PM about home cooked meals. I've got it twice before already. In my personal opinion unless it's all organically grown personally; all food has the potential for contamination. Also, if dog food isn't regulated what is AAFCO for if not to regulate dog food. AAFCO: "The purpose of the corporation shall be to establish and maintain an Association through which officials of any state, dominion, federal or other governmental agency and employees thereof charged with a responsibility in enforcing the laws regulating the production, labeling, distribution, or sale of animal feeds or livestock remedies may unite to explore the problems encountered in administering such laws, to develop just and equitable standards, definitions and policies to be followed in enforcing such laws, to promote uniformity in such laws, regulations and enforcement policies, and to cooperate with members of the industry producing such products in order to promote the effectiveness and usefulness of such products." Thanks! That was exactly what I was trying to say! I've researched feeding RAW and home cooked meals and I'm just doing what works for me and my girls, feeding them super premium holistic food. The only thing I get from Pet Stores like Petsmart are........toys! My girls' food is either from feed stores or online direct. | |

| Has anyone here tried Flint River? I came across their site & it sounded good but who knows...it would be nice if it didn't have to be ordered on line.
