| Has anyone used or thought of using the food by Paul Newman? A lady at our local pet store recommended that we try some of his treats - all organic/healthy, etc. We bought a bag but haven't tried them....I was just curious about the food. Also...for those that use Chicken Soup.....are the kibbles small? Mojo has to have the tiny little kibbles...we ran into this when we first switched over to Nutro Natural Choice (those kibbles were big and we were having to crush them up alittle)...until someone nicely pointed out that they made them in smaller kibbles....hee,hee

I have never heard of some foods mentioned...Go Natural, Fromms, Verus, Eagle Pack Holistic....Wow! Isn't Flint River the one that is baked when you order and shipped directly to you??? I can't remember which one that was, but that name is ringing a bell. I can't find Canidae or Innova around here.....I wonder if I can talk a local feed store into carrying it or atleast getting some samples...... speaking of which....some of you mentioned getting samples of these foods, do you just call the company and request a sample pack?? Or go online? I did see Chicken Soup in a local Atwoods store, but they were huge bags and I had no idea what to look for.....plus, I remember it was on a recall list awhile back for some reason. Okay, okay....I know that ALL foods can be recalled at some time for something or other (spinach not long ago, peanut butter, etc)....I didn't "stop" eating them....I just hunted for brands that were organic, etc. until I found ones that were not affected and that I "hope" were safe to eat. (hee,hee....we all get alittle nervous after a food recall) I am doing the same w/ Mojo's food.....Like Joy said, she would have to grow a large organic garden and have her own fish hatchery, etc...to know for sure what her babies were eating....that is just not fesible (in my house anyone - boy, I would love to have the time and money to do that for not just Mojo but for ourselves too).....so the next best thing, is finding a trust worthy dog food company.....whew....what a daunting task! I know that most are like me......our Yorkies are better taken care of then ourselves....I know I try to feed Mojo the best foods, he (I thought) was eating better then me, has the best toys, snacks, grooming stuff, etc....so, we are not over-reacting, we are just trying to "better" what we thought was already "better". (hee, hee)

I have a bag of Canidae All Life Stages Chicken and Rice as well as Canidae the orginal formula. If you would like some free samples for Mojo I would be more than willing to make him up some little baggies so he could give it a try and see if he likes it! I also have a bag of California Natural that I could take out some samples of for him as I mix that in Jaden and Jewelina's food. Just PM me your address and I'll get them out to you ASAP Hugs , Joy Last edited by BlondieGirl87; 03-25-2007 at 03:27 PM. | |

| We are still feeding Bailey Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul, but I do have coupon for a free bag of Nutro that I had got from another YTers which before the recall had came out was considering getting the Nutro Dry and mixing it with the CS....I still plan to do so since the recall wasn't for the Nutro dry kibble....but who knows I may just stick with the CS, Bailey seems to care less

| I feed chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul but had recently decided to change because my boy is too fat, my girl is getting seriously thin. Based on recommendations, went and bought canidae today. My dogs wont touch it with a 10 foot pole. Great! I am going to return it if I can and mail order merricks.???.

BUT I wonder if you have looked at the top dog foods out there lately. Unless the companies are out right lying to us (I know anything is possible) they do not do this to their food. Some come right out and say we do not do this--Flint River Ranch is one. I have to believe that there are people that love animals, realize we do and that we are willing to pay extra to feed them something besides garbage. Again, I agree, not as good as feeding our food but that isn't always possible for everyone to do. I am one that appreciates your posts...you are preaching to the choir with me...but I do wonder if you have looked at some of the better companies. Are they all deceiving us? Gus eats about half home cooked and half dry/wet dog food. There are a handful I like but here are two if you'd like to take a look... http://www.healthypetcorner.com/shop...ence_sp_5.html http://www.newmansownorganics.com/pet/faqs/

I also wanted to add that the Chicken Soup kibbles are flat, instead of being completely round - and I really think this adds to the ease of chewing

HI! The Nutro Natural Choice that we feed is the small bites kibble. They are little bitty and round....he chews them up pretty easily...we have just tried some foods that were huge - like what our big labs and german shepard eats! That was just too much....for one, we thought he would get choked on them! - anyway, we ended up crushing them in a ziplock....not crushing them completely, just breaking them up alittle....that was a chore! Which Chicken Soup do you feed? There are so many....and does in come in the huge bags or can you get smaller? I think all I seen was the big bag (maybe a 20lb bag), but I can't remember which kind it was, so maybe it was for bigger dogs....I know the little bag of Nutro Natural Choice will last Mojo a LONG, LONG time......I couldn't imagine buying a big bag for him.
