Here's the question: How do you/I know that one food is better or safer than any another food ?
Did we know that Ol'Roy, Meijer, Save A Lot, Mighty Dog, Iams & Nutro dog food was made in the same factory?
Mars foods says Pedigree & Ceasar are ok because they are not made by Menu Foods. Who whould have thought?

I don't mean to create the "grand" dog food debate. I'm just as confused as alot of people and am trying to understand all of this.
(I have a brain injury and sometimes things just don't make sense.)
I wouldn't consider ANY of the foods on that list to be "premium." Nutro is barely passable and the rest are junk foods as far as I am concerned. Pedigree and Ceasar are not good for your dog not because of the recall, but because they just aren't good foods to begin with. Look for companies with long standing reputations that use human grade ingredients, like Merrick, Canidae and Innova. Those 3 remain my favorites. I would never feed my dogs anything from Petsmart, even the most expensive foods there are not at good as what we feed, and ironically the crap from Petsmart is MORE expensive!

According to an article that I read they purchased the suspect wheat gluten from China and it contained rat poison. That is what contaminated the food. And also they apparently knew about it for quite a while before starting the recall. Do we not grow wheat in America? Of course we do - they were just getting the cheapest price! This is just another reason why I hate these companies (Iams, etc.)
