Thanks for everyones responses. I am soooooooooooooooo fed up with the poop eating! I have to be on constant watch, never can I just sit and rest -- they seem to know -- when to coast is clear I had a really hard time getting them to eat - kibble, wet a combo, etc.. I always had to 'doctor' it up somehow. I work full time and wanted them to eat up and poop before I left. I found myself practicly begging TJ to eat. Anyway, over the past couple of months I decided to cook for them. This is going good, they like it and eat it up. A couple of problems are: 1. Roxy and TJ could both loose 1 lb - (TJ maybe a 1.5 lbs) 2. Roxy is our little piggy, she will try to eat all day. She eats up her AM food and then goes directly to TJ (he will usually leave a little bit). In this past month, she has gained .5 lbs -- I also leave 2 cut up raw green beans in each of their bowls before I leave. When I come home, everything is gone (poop too)! 3. For combating the poop eating, I am AGAIN trying the S.E.P. (Stop Eating Poop) - the problem with this is the powder has a very strong smell (kinda minty, I can't place what it is right now) - And I also bought some new suplements (made by Springtime: Bugg Off Garlic and Longevity and also the Angle Eyes for those red trar stains) - all in all, adding ALL this powder into the food I cook for them, is making them not want to eat it! I still have to do some more research on the RAW food approach to feel comfortable feed it to them. I probably would go the Natures Variety way. Thanks again everyone!

I am really tempted now! I read a little, what I read was to really ONLY feed Meat, Bones and Organs - Not to use the "pre-made" stuff. This makes me very nervous. I am not sure I can do that all by myself. I like th idea of just buying what is pre-made. Also, TJ and Roxy do LOVE raw vegs. They eat Raw green beans and spinach and really like it. I wonder if that would affect the poop, not turning white? Oh boy, I still have a lot to think about... | |

That's why I went with NV...it has all the meat, organs, bones and egg shell but it's ground up for them...it also has other natural ingredients but no fillers or grains. I thought I'd try NV before taking the plunge into the other way of raw feeding but I like what I'm doing now and I can see a difference in my boys so I'm sticking with it. One thing I do is break the medallion up with 2 forks, that way if there are any larger pieces of bone in it I can take them out...I feel safer that way.

I think I am going to try the NV. I just called up my pet store, they have the Chicken and Lamb and they are open until 6 pm. OK - Wish me luck! I like the whole idea of this! 1. Being Healthy for them 2. Not spending FOREVER to make their food and then to get them to eat it! 3. MAYBE - just MAYBE - No more POOP EATING!!!

If you're just first trying the NV out, get the chicken. The lamb tends to be a little messy once its thawed... plus for some reason my two don't seem to like the lamb as much as the chicken. They'll eat it, but not with the same gusto as the rest of the "flavors"

I called the feed store that is about 5 mins. from my house. They said they have some left and are just giving it away at this point. They said the food is really good, but it is just too expensive for their clients... So I got 4 bags for FREE! Rabbit Medallions (expires 4/22) Venison Medallions (expires 4/28) Chicken/Turkey Medallions (expires 5/3) Beef Patties (expires 5/28) I guess I will throw away whatever is left after the expiration dates. Unless you think they are still OK for a little while after??? Also, when I was putting the bags in the freezer, I notice the big beef pattie bag had a slice in it. Probably from a box cutter - Should I just throw that one away - or do you think it is OK. The feed store had them in a Big freezer. They are solid! I have the Rabbit bag thawing a little bit, so I can get one out to put in the fridge to give TJ and Roxy tomorrow for breakfast. I am only going to give them 1/4 each of it though - to start! I am so excited!!! Please pray that this is the answer - NO MORE POOP EATING -

I hope the Free stuff I got is ok. I just took a look at the one medallion I have thawing in the fridge. It has some ice on it. I am not sure what color it is suppose to be, but it is beige, I hope they are not freezer burned Maybe I am thinking they are suppose to look like a piece of meat, but if it has bone, veggies and fruit all mixed in, then I guess beige is ok for the color. The test will be IF they eat the piece I give them in the AM

If they're discolored they have been in the freezer for a while but if they haven't expired and there's no damage to the bag then they should be fine. I did notice that the new bags I just bought looked like very fresh red meat. I feed 2 Yorkies...they each get 2 medallions a day so that's 4 a day...a bag usually lasts me about 2 weeks. Depending on how many you're feeding you could use it all before it expires...just use the one first that will expire first. I just cut Jo down to 1 medallion a day (but I leave a small amount of dry in the bowl in case he needs it but he rarely touches it) since he was gaining weight with this food so it should last about 3 weeks now. I'll try the chicken next time so maybe he won't gain with that one.

THANKS!!! Good stuff to know. I will feed until the expire date and then in the garbage it goes (unless I use it all). The big bag of Beef Patties has a slice in it. Maybe I will bring it back to exchange for a new one. That bag has an expire date of 5/28, so it would be good to have! Maybe they will give me more Anyway, I have 2 Yorkies to feed too. I am thinking that 2.5 medallions each are ok??? Roxy is 5 lbs. the website feed calculator says 2.4 oz. TJ is 7 lbs. website feed calculator says 2.9 oz. I will not leave dry food down for them though - that is when I am giving them the full portions. I would like to leave fresh raw green beans tough. They do like them a lot and TJ and Roxy could stand to loose a pound. I hope this diet will have regulate their weight and their poop eating habit.
