I've also been wondering how Sedrick is doing. Poor little guy has been through the wringer, but hopefully his surgery is 100% successful and he'll be back to his old self soon. I'll be praying for him to have a speedy recovery! Kisses to Sedrick from Maddie and I and hugs to you...hang in there!

Hello Everyone I would like to thank everyone for their concern and support we are very appreciative of it. Good news from the hospital. Sedrick it still improving. He now knows he has legs and is trying to stand but the weight of the splint is going to be a real fight for him. The doctor said he is doing very well and we can bring him home on Friday. So it's back to Saskatoon for us to get our little boy. They say there is only a 70% chance of full recovery he may have a limp or something of that nature but only time can tell. We did some research on this subject and found out this is common in toy or miniature dogs. This is probably why there are so many sudden deaths among the toy/miniature dog. It is very common between the age of 3 months and 10 months so if you have a pup in that age group and notice that they give a little yelp for no reason this is a good sign to have it checked out. Atlanto-Axial Subluxation is the term for it. Here is the link to read more about it. It is in the lower part of the wobblers report. http://www.dogstuff.info/wobblers_lanting.html Thanks for your support and we will keep everyone updated on his progress. Sincerely Bakerman

I would like to let everyone know that sedrick is doing well. He is home and is learning to walk again it will be a long road however we do not know exactly how well he will rebound. He has already defied the odds. He is in day care each day at his vets and they take extra special care of him more than we can ever ask. his spirits are high and went in today and had a bandage change he looks like a bumble bee. He has 6 more weeks of his splints than we will be able to see exactly how well he will be. God bless you all and your little boys and girls with fur.

Hi Thanks for everyones encouragement on little Sedrick. I just want everyone to be aware that the condition that he was diagnosed with is "Atlantoaxial Subluxation". This is a condition that is common in small breed dogs (yorkies, pomeranians, chiwawas(?spelling)) and will present itself between the ages of 3 and 10 months. If anyone wants more information on it please feel free to contact us and we will let you know what to look for. Sedrick is our little miracle and according to his Surgeon he is the worst case that they have encountered who has lived through the trauma. Thanks Bakerylady

Well I just wanted to do a follow up on Sedrick now that it is 7 weeks since we have had him back at home. Well he is doing great and is spoiled rotten but in a good way. He brings joy to us everyday. We took him on a 3 km walk yesterday here in winnipeg for the humane society and he did great. On Saturday we took him fishing for the first time you can see is face to face meeting with one of the catfish we caught. and the other is just a photo of him showing how lots of love and attention can be amazing results. With all the sad news over the last week here on yorkie talk our hearts go out to everone who is affected. We just wanted to put a positive report.
