| My dogs like the ribs of romaine lettuce and go crazy for baby carrots. My eldest dog thinks he is a bunny or something. He loves all fruits and veggies, yesterday he was eatting blueberries that I dropped. He even likes oranges. Ohhhh and he loves apples. With Mya I only give her the baby carrots for a treat and a tiny bit of lettuce once in awhile. I give them well washed lettuce or the inside ribs. My larger dog likes the core of the romaine lettuce. I had a dog that was crazy about cauliflower.

| A lot of people feed their dogs vegetables and more. I never have, if they are eating a premium dog food that really is enough. If you want to give them some veggies, I see nothing wrong with it, but I would never give them something while we were eating. In my opinion and many dogs later, that teaches them to beg while you're at the table or any where else.

| I dont know in dogs, but in rabbits lettuce will swell up inside and too much will cause death. I found out the hard way. When I was 9 yrs old I had a rabbit names Bugs. He love Lettuce. So we fed it to him as a snack. Well he died and the vet said everyone thinks rabbits should have lettuce and they shouldn't cause it tends to swell up when being digested???? I dont know if this would be the case with doggies too. But I would ask your vet first. |

| I never feed Buddy from the table or table scrapes however I do give him small pieces of lettuce, 2% cheese, banana, green beans, peas and baby carrots and boiled chicken (white meat only). The veggies and chicken I put 1tsp each mixed with his kibble (Natural Balance) for breakfast and dinner. Others use cottage cheese and I am going to try that also. Also 1 scrambled egg on Sun mornings. No butter or milk added. Who eats better than our Yorkies! |

| I asked my vet this same question and you'd be surprised at the things that they are NOT allowed to eat. Mainly you should stick to apples and carrots. The vet told me no oranges to high in vitamin "C" for dogs, no bananas, or strawberries or anything like that...way too sweet for them, no grapes or onions. Baiscally he said just stick to apples and carrots there are lots of different things out there that may be okay for us but defently not okay for these little guys.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | my breeder told me a cool thing to do with the lettuce. take a head of lettuce, rip it into piece and put it in a blender with some water. Blend it up really well and then put the liquid into ice cube trays. They make great treats for the dogs on a hot day. My breeder told me about this when i told her my puppy was eating grass when we were outside. I tried the ice cube trick and Morgan loved it.

| One of my dogs would eat Caesar's salads until they came out her nose..... Lettuce isn't the most nutritional thing in the world, but with a little cheese, a few croutons, some carrots, and perhaps some meat, -- it could be more nutritional. Certainly doesn't hurt them. Both my dogs and both my cats eat grass outside constantly. Sometimes I think I have a bunch of grazing animals. It's really funny when I look out back and see two horse, two dogs, and two cats grazing. Carol Jean |
