| Please don't feel that you are "harping on a sore subject". This is what this forum is about, to discuss in length if need be our concerns, issues, questions, etc. Also, I am very sorry Armeno had such a tough time under anesthesia, twice at that. Did the vet use Isoflourine? This is the "safer" anesthesia for the little dogs. I am thinking that the cost of surgey (surgeries) will vary from state to state and doctor to doctor. Yes, Schatzie's LP surgery was $450.00 however, vet care is NOT expensive (in my opinion) in the state of AR. I might be questioning your vet regarding Armeno's care and possibly look into a vet that specializes in the smaller toy dogs. It could mean the world!! Usually dogs teeth are cleaned or pulled under other reasons for anesthesia as it does eliminate "another" anesthesia time. If not possible then I would imagine that a small dog going under anesthesia for only a tooth cleaning should be under only a small amount of time. Schatzie was "messed up" also when I picked her up but you have to remember that upon waking up some dogs might throw up, salvitate, etc. Also the unclear eyes is due from anesthesia and is normal. Schatzie was sticky, stinky, and I just waited until she was healed enough to bath her. I recently had surgery and I didn't wake up looking my best either so I don't expect Schatzie too. Again, I do hope that Yorkie Talk always gives you the ease to post whatever concerns you might have.

| 2 Weeks In OK ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS. RILEY HAS FORGOTTEN HE EVEN HAS A LEG. HE IS A 3 LEGGED DOGGIE! WE CALLED THE VET FOR THE UPDATE, SHE SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THE NON WALKING ON THE LEG GO ON FOR A MONTH. HE DOES LET US MOVE IT AROUND WITH NO PROTEST, SO MAYBE. YESTERDAY HE TRIED TO USE IT TO SCRATCH. OH HE LOOKED SO SAD HE HAD IT COCKED UP AND HE HEAD DOWN AND YOU COULD JUST SEE IT IN HIS FACE HOW HARD HE WAS TRYING TO MOVE IT. POOR THING. I GOT UP SO FAST TO HELP HIM HE WAS SO GREATFUL. IM LEAVING HIM FOR A WEEK ON MONDAY. IM GOING TO MISS HIM SO MUCH ( I HAVE 2 KIDS THAT I DONT THINK IM GOING TO MISS AS MUCH AS RILEY ) I KNOW CALL THE SOCIAL SERVICES. BUT MY RILEY IS A MOMMAS BOY. HE IS A SNUGGLER. HE IS RIGHT ON MY HIP NOW. MY MOM IS STAYING WITH HIM. SO AT LEAST HE WILL BE WITH SOMEONE. ANYWAY THE COST OF THE SURGERY IS DIFFERENT EVERYWHERE. IM HAPPY IT DIDNT COST $1200 (SORRY THAT IS DID COST YOU THAT MUCH ) 700 WAS ALOT THOUGH. OH WELL ITS ONLY MONEY IM NOT TAKING IT WITH ME AND IT HELPED MY BABY DOGGIE. WHEN RILEY CAME OUT OF ANESTESHIA HE LOOKED LIKE HE WAS DRUNK AND STONED ALL DAY. THE EYES LOOKED ALL GLASSY. BY THE NEXT MORNING HE WAS BETTER, STILL A BIT GROGGY THOUGH. ANYWAY HE IS MY RILEY NOW. BARKING AT ME WHEN HE WANTS SOMETHING, FOLLOWING ME AROUND, EATING ME OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME, ALL ON 3 LEGS!!!

| surgery Isoflorine is extemely safe for most Yorkies. Vets say it leaves the systems within hours and they can be put under the next day if need be for more surgery. Some Yorkies just have problems with these things. I would brush his teeth daily and use a tartar fighting gel. |
