| You can go to: http://www.naturapet.com/display.php...z&naturaid=547 There you can do some comparisons with premium food. I don't think Science Diet is a "premium" food from what I've read.

| I would recommend agianst it. Science diet's formulas first main ingrediant is always corn. when looking for a good food for your dog you want the first ingrediant to always be a meat product. preferrably not a by-product which an include but is not limited to : heads, feet and intestines. ALWAYS look at the first three ingrediants. This will tell you what the food consists mainly of. Corn is not digestible, and some dogs are known to be highly allergic. I'd recommend: Nutro Natural Choice Natures Recipe Nutro Ultra Royal Canin Canidae I hope this helps.

| My vet told me that Science Diet and Eukanuba are the 2 best brands of dog food I personally use Eulanuba and Pebbles loves it, she does not like the Eukanuba treats though, I have no idea why, maybe because they are hard, but the Science Diet ones, they are like a burgundy color, flat, and round, and she loves them! |

| You have to consider the source when you get this type of thing told to you. First, the vet that sells Science Diet tells you that Science Diet is a good food. SURPRISE! Did you think he was going to tell you it isn't? That'd kind of be like McDonald's running a commercial that says Wendy's sold the better burger wouldn't it? Second, you have to spell out exactly what you mean to whoever you're asking it to. Meaning, if you want to know if Science Diet is a good food as compared to garbage, say that. If you want to know if it's the best feed that you can feed your dog for its overall longterm health, then that's what you need to say. There is a VERY big difference in the two statements. Most vets are concerned with the pet as just that...a pet. They don't worry about your dog as a breeder, a very spoiled dog, a wonderfully treated member of your family or anything else other than a pet. You could feed your dog caviar every evening, and it wouldn't make a darn to the vet. If your vet doesn't understand where you stand on the expense of taking care of your pet over the long haul, he can not make judgements of which feed you should feed or which feed would be the best. If you don't care what the cost of feeding your pet the best feed on the market is, then tell the vet this. That way, he'll have a better idea of where you stand before asking questions such as this. Does that make any sense at all? Oh...and this was not directed towards anyone in particular...as I reread what I typed, it kind of sounded like I was talking to someone in particular...not so.

| I look a food that has no corn, wheat or soy. Those are the main ingredients that cause allerigies although I'm sure there are many others also.

| If you really want to know what ingredients are in food go to Natura Pet Products click onto Tools and you will find the Comparison Wizard. It's a great tool and you can compare side by side different foods. Personally I feed my kidz Wellness and sometime mix with Bil-Jac. Before I found YT, and the Wizard, I too, feed Eukanuba, have tried sience diet and others. I am so glad I found YT. I am learning something new almost every day. Great group of people here that really love their babies and want the best for them.

| Remember to read the ingredients. I don't know if your dog has any allergies but Royal Canin has corn in it. I made that mistake about a month ago and our older Yorkie started itching a lot!

| Vet suggested people food Hi Everyone, What to feed our Punkin (she's almost 9 months old) was a great concern. Everyone we asked gave us a different answer. When we went to the vet he suggested people food. 1/3 meat (not pork or seafood ) 1/3 fruits and veggies (no onions) 1/3 starch such as potatoes, rice, pasta, oatmeal etc. We just save some of what we are having (before the seasoning is added). We made the change and Punkin seems to be loving it. Just wondering if anyone else is doing this? |
