| Itching dog! Gabi has had itching problems for months now! I found that our vet can take a blood test and have it sent off to check what she is allergic to. I didn't think that our vet did that, but, thank God, they do! Monday, and a week to get the results back! We will be so happy! :-) |

| has your vet given you anything to help? Itchiness is pretty miserable and you don't have to know which allergen is causing it to treat the itchiness.

| I don't want to give her cortisone, prednisone, Benadryl etc. I want to fix the cause of it. At first we thought it was shampoo, so I have tried many different ones. Then we guessed at what she could be allergic to. I was really happy to find that we can find the culprit or culprits and fix the problem. :-) |

| I have been concerned about that. I think they might give allergy shots? |

We have used both Atopica and Apoquel with incredible results. Both work to modulate the immune system. They are amazing, life-changing meds for dogs. More about allergies here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html

| Unfortunately, this is completely accurate. They aren't just itchy with this. It comes with other symptoms. Treating chewie was the best thing I could have done for her, and it's stopped a lot of her digestive problems. |

| She's on an antihistamine with a steroid, (steroid is needed for what we are pretty certain is Addisons.) and we are looking into other avenues to help with her allergies this fall. Best thing we did was put her on that med. Even with her prior pickiness with food, her digestive tract was god awful. I mean, really, really, bad. Gurgling and frequent bouts of regurgitating bile. This was in addition to what happens when she's super stressed. I can't stress enough that it isn't *just* being itchy. |

| Have any of you seen this video? An owner of a pet store here in Wenatchee told me about Karen Becker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j4ZGfAJ2Jk Also the breeder where we got Gabi has a link to the following site, which I find very informative. What's So Risky About Puppy Shots? I, seriously, am thinking that this is what happened to Gabi. At any rate, this is the first dog/pet that we have ever had that has had this problem. And it is very disconcerting! I am a person who believes in doing things in the more "natural" preventative way, rather than treating the "symptoms" after the damage is done. I don't know if some breeds are more prone to having problems but we have had 2 other Yorkies who haven't had this problem. :-( |

You won't find an argument from me with that at all. My son was allergic to his shots- allergic- and he went from a super bright and talkative almost 3 year old, thanks to my yanking permission for boosters, to losing everything when caught up. Doctor talked husband into it while I was out of town, and the same thing happened, grand mal seizures, (always after a booster, never any other time) a few days where he was out of it, and he just never recovered... so, since our digestive systems are the same, I have no doubt that this isn't an issue, and it's a controversial opinion. I am the minority with this. I had a full on panic attack when chewie's first vet gave her rabies and a booster on the same day, so... you'll find I'm with you. However, there are top notch breeders on this board who I'll bet have no allergies in their lines. The problem is the monsters who take an already toy breed and breed them down, or do it for money and breed dogs they have no business breeding. This is what I think is the issue with yorkies and other toy breeds, not so much the shots.

| I thought that the breeder I bought from was really good. She said that the mother was from Spain and the father was from Kentucky. She brings in new blood periodically. When I was there she had a little boy that she had gotten from Russia and I see she has a couple from Brazil. So she works hard at breeding good puppies. I am very sorry about your son and grandson. Do they have lasting problems due to side effects from the vaccines? There is a pediatrician in Portland OR that has written a book about children's vaccinations. I bought one for the mommy of my great grand daughter. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I know, personally, of two children who were terribly negatively affected by vaccines. One with autism and the other with rare seizures! I don't know what they are doing now-a-days, but they are surely hurting our children. You may want to get Dr. David Brownstien's email blog. He has a lot of info on the subject plus he has written at least 14 books that I know of. |

No grandchildren yet- although my oldest is "technically" able to father a child, he's still too young, lol. My middle son was the one who had this happen. Yes, it's long lasting, no he won't recover. He'll for the rest of his life need to be in an institution setting, because he only thrives when everything is the same day after day, and it has to be structured completely. He had grand mal seizures after his shots, I stopped them and then my husband was talked into it while I was out of town. He didn't recover this time. It's been a long time, so I'm no longer angry, but I'll always be sad. It isn't Thimerosal, although chelation therapy showed me that it's not good for us. I will continue to say it to any one that asks me that sometimes, putting these in certain people have horrific results. My "mild" allergy put me in bed a month ago for almost a week from a simple tetanus shot. So. much. Pain, and so. much. swelling. Any way, thankfully Chewie's vet is completely okay with the benadryl before each shot. I have a lot of these books on my kindle and in my storage; but I'll check out your recommendation as well.
