| TOTAL Food Confussion!! Okay, I know we have gone over this numerous times but I need some help here... With the Chicken Soup scare I took Muffin off of that food. I had some Wellness Puppy Food left so I was giving her that. She didn't seem thrilled with it but if I mixed it with some canned she ate it with some coaxing. After hearing all of the WONDERFUL things some of you have said about Innova, I decided to try that. After calling 8 pet stores I still couldn't find it so I ordered it online. Muffine LOVES it! Monday I was at a pet boutique in the area and they had Innova Evo. The sales clerk said that Evo was not age restricted so any age dog could eat it. I asked her why she ony carried the Evo she said due to space constraints, she couldn't carry everything and thought the Evo was the better choice. With having a 2 1/2 year old Maltese as well, I thought maybe I could feed them both the Evo. My Maltese weights 10 pounds and still eats twice a day. He's been on Wellness since he was a puppy. Would Evo have too many calories for him? I did get a sample bag of the Evo and my babies gobbled it up like it was candy. Some of you have stated that the Evo is too high in protein. Some of you have said that it's not good for dogs not to have a food that doesn't contain grains. It's all so confusing!! I'd appreciate your feedback. |

| too much protein is a bad idea I know that Yorkies and some other breeds are predisposed to Pancreatitis that can be caused by too much protein and or fat in the diet. There is no need to feed a pet with average activity level food that is that high in protein. I know because my dog had a bad reaction to food that has high levels of these things. He became weak and depressed and sore all over- it was very sad to watch, and the vet bill was not easy to swallow either. Like you, I am still looking for the proper food to feed my baby and I think that it might be a raw food diet- not that that is going to be easy, but I want a healthy dog!! I know your dogs really love this food, but if you want what is best for them I would change to something more reasonable in protein levels. Good luck- and if you find something let me know |

| I have to tell you that I spent at least 2 hours this morning going through the internet and my Yorkie books and my dog books on the issue of Protein and it is pretty interesting. The older books really don't like protein for Yorkies but if you go into the natural food thinking process, it is not a problem. If you go on the web, you will find research that says all the testing they did on protein in dogs was done on rats. I do know that Whole Dog Journal endorses this food, which is just like a raw diet. This is a description from Innova on Evo dog food: Innova EVO Dog Evolutionary Diet for the Modern Canine Innova EVO has been specially designed to provide all the key nutritional benefits received from the feeding of raw food diets but with the benefits of 21st Century nutritional research. Innova EVO formula is based on ground chicken & turkey meat, bones, fat, cartilage and connective tissue. It includes whole, raw fruits and vegetables which contain health promoting phytochemicals and micronutrients. Low Carb, Hi-Protein and Grain Free. At Natura, we understand that it isn't always possible to feed your pet a raw diet. This is until now. Innova EVO is also a convenient, complete and balanced supplement to a raw feeding program. Innova EVO...What to feed when you can't feed raw Animal feeding tests using AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) procedures substantiate that Innova EVO Adult Dog Food provides complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages.
