| seizures? Hi everyone! I am new to YorkieTalk and this is my first post. I have had my Tootie for over 2 years now and am concerned. We got her after a friend found her wandering after the Fourth of July. Nobody claimed her after many notices and newspaper ads. Anyway, she weighs 3.5 lbs and the vet figures she is about 7 years old. She had a lot of bad teeth that had to be removed and I think she has "leather ear?" Recently she has started having what may be seizures. I had a Siberian Husky that had epilepsy and Tootie's episodes are not really the same. With Tootie, she will all of the sudden fall to her side and shake slightly for a couple of seconds, then she gets up and seems OK. It's almost like she loses her balance .They don't seem to be aggravated by exercise or eating, but I'm getting really worried about my little baby. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! |

| How strange....my Lily did the same thing this weekend. She tried to nap all day on Sunday and when she would wake up, she looked like a bobble head doll. Seriously. Her little head would just bob around. I thought it was her just fighting sleep, but when she finally decided to get up, she threw up a little bit and then did the falling over thing. We immediately took her to the emergency clinic and she acted PERFECT for them!!! He told us that if it kept up to have her checked by our regular vet, that it could be neurological. She's been perfectly normal since. It's only happened this once, she's just 14 weeks old. I hope someone out there has some suggestions for us. |

She may be older or younger than your Vet guessed at which it is a best guess. Some Yorkies can become epileptic from age of 4 years old and on. You may try going back to your Vet about the seizures and see what he/she says. If they aren't too often or severe, likely medications isn't necessary but if they are it may be the best route. Your Vet will be able to tell you best. If you aren't sure about this Vet you can always get a second opinon. BTW it is so wonderful you took this poor little munchkin in when she was abandoned.

| This is my first Yorkie and really, my first puppy! We have always adopted young, but full grown dogs. I have no idea what nutrical is. I assume I can find it at any pet store? |

Hey Amy...You can get Nutrical at any Petco or Petsmart - it comes in a tube.....IF you see this again and don't have any - in a pinch - you can use Karo Syrup or honey for your little one.... BUT........if it happens again and the Nutracal or Karo doesn't help - I would for sure make a vet appointment - it could be something else.... agodden...Bless your heart for taking that baby in and I don't want to say what that could be because I'm no expert.... but it sounds like it could be neurological....Hopefully it isn't ....but I would talk to your vet about this as it isn't normal at all ....GOOD LUCK !

| b-complex My past Yorkie (8lbs) had problems after a vaccine. Started tremoring...almost like Parkinsons and eventually started having seizures. I gave him 2 Shaklee B-complex and it was the only thing that helped at all. 1 didn't work. It wasn't until I gave him 2 but he was 8lbs. I had read it in a book called "Healthy Pets" where people used supplementation to control seizures. suzie |

| Thanks for all the replies! I am going to be taking her to the vet to get her cheked out. I'm just trying to find a good vet in my area that specializes in Yorkies or small breeds since I have a Pom also. |

Depends on the frequency of the seizure if theyre often I would have her blood levels checked first ruling out genetic issues, if theyre normal next step would be checking with a neurologist. god bless you for taking her in
