Anyway, she weighs 3.5 lbs and the vet figures she is about 7 years old. She had a lot of bad teeth that had to be removed and I think she has "leather ear?" Recently she has started having what may be seizures. I had a Siberian Husky that had epilepsy and Tootie's episodes are not really the same. With Tootie, she will all of the sudden fall to her side and shake slightly for a couple of seconds, then she gets up and seems OK. It's almost like she loses her balance .They don't seem to be aggravated by exercise or eating, but I'm getting really worried about my little baby. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! |
She very well could have a mild epilepsy with not severe seizures. They can be different grades. You didn't mention how often she has these seizures? Every day? several times a day? On occasion?
She may be older or younger than your Vet guessed at which it is a best guess. Some Yorkies can become epileptic from age of 4 years old and on.
You may try going back to your Vet about the seizures and see what he/she says. If they aren't too often or severe, likely medications isn't necessary but if they are it may be the best route. Your Vet will be able to tell you best. If you aren't sure about this Vet you can always get a second opinon.
BTW it is so wonderful you took this poor little munchkin in when she was abandoned.
