| US Oh no!!! All the waiting is so hard. I am so sorry it is affecting you so badly, but it can't be long now. Isn't it always the way, if anyone says they will be there in a certain time frame it is usually at the far end!!! Hopefully your husband will still be home when you get the results. But we only expect good news???? Hang in there the wait will soon be over she will be home. So sorry you are going though this pain. |

| Results are in! No sign of cancer or anything overly concerning (vet's words, not mine). She has a kidney infection that is resolving and small adrenal glands. They are keeping her for a few more hours to test her for Addison's Disease as that could be a reason for small adrenal glands. I am obviously nervous, but the vet reassured me that if she has it and we keep her on the proper medication and keep up with annual blood work and appointments that she can live a normal life. She told me about a dog that just passed away at the office that was diagnosed when he was 2 and he was 16 when he passed. I don't even know the dog or the family and my thoughts are with them right now. I am so relieved right now. I can handle the idea of medication for life, since it means she will be with us still! The results for this test may take until Monday to come in, but I am okay with that as she said since her blood work was fine, she shouldn't be in any danger over the weekend. Besides, we have a follow up scheduled for Sunday. As for food, we were recommended to just find a food she likes and works well for her and keep her on it. She would like her on the I/D kibble but if she won't eat it then she said to find one she will eat. After years of belly aches and not wanting to eat, a diagnosis of Addison's Disease would make sense. I did google it already and saw things about cancer - but I am taking it on good faith that they have already done an ultrasound and found no masses of any kind. Everything about Addison's seems just like her - from most of the symptoms all the way to one thing I read where it said one day the dog will seem to be at death's door and the next day they are running around fine. I am obviously hoping the test comes back negative but I would be lying if I didn't say at least we would know and be able to help her. I am so glad I posted here the other night, I never would have managed if it weren't for you guys. |

| Sophie AAAAH! Thank you for the update. No cancer or masses, what great news-) The test results for Addison's are not in yet, so don't get stressed about that until and if it happens! As you say, even if that is the diagnosis it can be managed, and you can live with that. I am sure you will find a food she will like and that will keep her well. Hope you feel calmer now and that you look forward to picking her up and giving her lots of hugs and kisses. It has been a tough week, but all will be ok now. Get well soon Sophie Hugs. |

| Just read your thread and thank goodness it's not cancer. My Tibbe has been on Hills I/D GI for about 3 years for his adult-onset IBS, then got diagnosed with MVD and I had to add the Hill's L/D Hepatic to it as he itches too much if he eats only Hepatic. He's been MVD-symptom free for several months now. Lisa(lisaly), another member here, very kindly sent me some of her Dogzymes Max Probiotic & some coconut oil for a yeast/bacterial combo skin infection he was also having at the time) to try Tibbe on and I started him out with only a few grains of the probiotics and a tiny drip of the oil every few days - as his tummy is so sensitive - and gradually worked up to about 1/8th teaspoon of both 6 out of 7 days and with that, have been able to increase the proportions of his hepatic food - even gradually adding in the kibble version of it, which he couldn't tolerate at all at first for some reason. Anyway, now, on the the probiotics and virgin coconut oil, he can tolerate half of his meal of the Hill's Hepatic and hasn't had any N&V or diarrhea, loud digestive sounds or lethargy for months now. This is his longest symptom-free episode since he first became IBS- and then MVD- symptomatic somewhere about 3 1/2 - 5 1/2 years of age. B4 that, he could eat green beans, carrots, plain potato, loved a bite of orange or lemon, some stew over his kibble, a bite of meat from the table and boiled chicken and then suddenly, everything made him vomit and have loose stools, gas and loud tummy sounds, he'd jump in pain and look around at his tummy, lethargy and just standing in the middle of the floor with his head hanging down. Starting him first on Hill's I/D GI and then the Hill's L/D Hepatic have given him back his former lifestyle of always bouncing around and enjoying being a dog again. But now that he's able to eat more of the hepatic kibble, which he couldn't manage at all before the probiotics, I'm one day going to try him on a food with better main ingredients with the vet's approval or maybe even try some home cooking - just a kibble at a time if I must for starters - and pray he can tolerate it and then see what other wholesome food he might can eat with his IBS/MVD.

Regarding the Addison's Disease, I have a co-worker whose dog manages just fine on it. There are medications she has to handle, but she says it is very manageable. I HOPE that this isn't the issue, but if it is, at least it's something that can be managed. Your posts are so familiar to me when Tink was first diagnosed. The waiting, the stress, the feeling of complete hopelessness. Unfortunately, her issue is a form of cancer, but I am devoted to doing anything for her and keeping her happy. It's so apparent Sophie has a mommy who will do anything for her, and I'm sure she is a spoiled, perfect little girl. I will keep you and Miss Sophie in my prayers

I am so sorry about your little one, she is lucky to have you as her mom. This place is so helpful for so many reasons and one of them is that this is the one place I can go and I know people won't criticize me for spending too much or doing too much for her. When you love them and they are your baby, you do anything you can! I will keep you and Tink in my thoughts! I have been cuddling with her all night. She has a small appetite but I am trying to go easy on the food with her, but she did have a huge drink and pee when we came home. She has eaten a grand total of 4 of the I/D kibbles, so as long as she continues to like it and it works well for her, we are going to stick with it. She smells so bad and looks so gross tonight, but she is getting groomed on Saturday (vet okayed it) so I don't want to stress her out too much right now. I nicknamed her Stink Bug for a reason! I will be back when we get the results. I am just so happy right now and I promised her all the belly rubs she could imagine tonight! I am hoping she will want to eat tomorrow, but I know I need to give her a few days to get back into things and switched over to the food. The vet told us with her issues to just do a straight swap because she hasn't eaten any of her old kibble since Sunday, but has been on the canned I/D. I attached a picture of her that I took just after I got home. I know she is not the cleanest looking but she had a long week - she was so exhausted that she had a quick snack and climbed up her little stairs onto the bed and slept like a log for awhile!

| Sophie So comforting to read your happy post about having your baby home again. She deserves all the belly rubs and cuddles you can give her. As for eating, perhaps if she still has some infection and is stressed by the vet visits and procedures, she may not have much of an appetite. As the vet said, whatever she will eat is good right now. What a precious picture of Sophie totally out of it and exhausted on the bed My, is she glad to be home!! She will appreciate the beauty treatment on Saturday. Hoping you both sleep tonight and that tomorrow is a happy day for you all and that you are feeling better too now. Hugs, Dot xxxxxx |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog My vet had me feed my Yorkie only quinoa and baked tilapia while on meds. As he got better we put him on hills science diet zd wet canned food. He has done really well on this. It's all Spud gets. There is treats that go with this food he gets one a day. I would try this before ultrasound. Sounds like pancreatitis or irritable bowel. Need a very low fat diet. Prayers for your sweet yorkie. Last edited by sandy simpson; 04-09-2015 at 07:53 PM. Reason: spelling |

Addison's is easy to manage, so this is not a bad diagnosis to deal with.

What a sweet little girl - I hope she has no issues eating today, but she was probably just sleepy from a long day. Aww... little Stink Bug - you will both be in my prayers. I'm so happy to hear it is something that can be managed.
