Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() She is still refusing food...I have gotten her to eat a few nibbles at treats but not enough. I have the Nutrical but I was hoping she would eat regular food. She also cries when you touch her injection site. 😥 any suggestions on getting her to eat? |

| ![]() I tried to find some info on the brdatella but all I could really find was that for up to 10 days after it can cause coughing and sneezing. If its been days since her shot I would talk to the vet about it because I don't think after too many days it should still be hurting her. Is there a bump, hotness to the touch or a rash or anything where she got the shot? It could be a reaction to the shot more then the bordatella. Its hard to see our babies hurting. Have you tried wetting her food and letting it soak in hot water for a few minutes then draining it? You could also try some plain boiled chicken.

| ![]() Have you tried baby food? I usually just rest Katie's tummy if she's not feeling well, but your little girl is a baby and needs to eat. Katie likes chicken baby food, and it usually entices her to eat. |

| ![]() I hope the antibiotic injection helps your little girl, but I'm so sorry it hurts her so much at the site. She is so young and tiny to have the nasal vaccine. My heart breaks hearing how sick she is. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Thank you all for your comments and concern. In the future I will not let them give her this vaccine. Or if it is required, she will only get the shot. Right now she went back to sleep again, but she had a rough night and the medicine may be making her sleepy as well. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Both of these can always develop from simple kennel cough (ie, "bordetella"), so it's very likely these were caused by the vaccine. I never get bordetella for my 3 dogs, as it's not a core vaccine. Besides, it's like vaccinating for the common cold - it only vaccinates against SEVEN strains of the "common cold" in dogs...pretty useless in my opinion. Try sprinkling Parmesan cheese on her food.

| ![]() My Boxer had kennel cough. When he got boarded (at my vet) he hadn't had the shot and gave it to him at the time of boarding. Stupid me believed them when they said he will be immune from kennel cough. He had the worst cough I have ever heard and he was on antibiotics for a long time. If a dog gets kennel cough, it will go into pneumonia making it that much longer to treat. I hope your girl starts to improve and recovers quickly.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Bonnie is breathing much better today. Her appetite is improving also. I didn't have Parmesan cheese but I did have chicken baby food. Fortunately she was healthy before this started so she has a good chance of a relatively quick recovery (vet says 1 to 6 weeks depending on response to antibiotics). Thanks again for everyone's support and suggestions😉 |

![]() ![]() ![]() I changed vets once after he insisted on giving my pup that nasal vaccine....told me they changed to it because "it is much more effective than the injection"....then, my puppy started sneezing and coughing immediately, and when my baby came down sick within 36 hours from the nasal drops, and ended up with bronchitis/ and pneumonia, he then said, well yes, occasionally it happens, but he sure did not give me a break on all the antiobiotics and breathing treatments, etc that I had to give my puppy, for the next 3-4 months.....researching on my own about this useless vaccination, I decided never again would I do that to any of my babies.....so very sick, and for no benefit. | |

| ![]() I will not be giving it anymore. 2 out of 3 times he's had side effects after the nasal drop vaccine -- sneezy, wheezy, snorting, etc. One time he got full blown kennel cough anyway.

It is nice to hear that we are not the only ones to realize this. I still get the push of some new vets when we see a new one, or puppy owners have their vets insist with us that we are not being reasonable. Good luck with your puppy, he will probably need some antibiotics, lots of vapor bathroom time and tons of love, on the bright side you are going to be extra attached and get extra love and kisses back. I find that a drop of vitamin C liquid every day helps. Blessings. Xoxo

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() She is a lot better but still has some coughing in the morning and when she first wakes up from a nap. She will probably be on antibiotics for at least 3 weeks according to the vet. I'm just happy she can breathe and is eating and playing normally now. |
