I always tell my new owners if they want to give the kennel cough vaccine, insist on the shot. "Dead viruses" are used in the shot, the drops are made from "live viruses". My dogs do not leave my property so they are not exposed to the disease, so I personally do not give that vaccine. |
After having the same experience, we decided years ago to stop the bordetela in our puppies and I recommend puppy owners not to give it before one year old.
It is nice to hear that we are not the only ones to realize this.
I still get the push of some new vets when we see a new one, or puppy owners have their vets insist with us that we are not being reasonable.
Good luck with your puppy, he will probably need some antibiotics, lots of vapor bathroom time and tons of love, on the bright side you are going to be extra attached and get extra love and kisses back.
I find that a drop of vitamin C liquid every day helps.
Blessings.
