!I didn't mean to imply there were no carbs or fiber, it's just that it's likely less than their previous foods.

They do love it and since I feed my grand dogs often, they are changing too. Rambo, a Shih Tzu, is even fussier than Joey, he acted like I was giving him fresh meat when I offered him a piece of kibble. So far, so good.

				   | Personally I don't like it at all. I understand the pull because of the marketing about no synthetic vitamins. But if it looks too good to be true...... I like that they did a feeding trial, but they do not seem too concerned about AAFCO nutrient recommendations on paper. That is okay if it is not important to you. The food is deficient in about three things and the canned food is an extreme concern for Yorkies. I know nothing about the production, scientists, etc. An old member did use it for a short time and told me privately that her dogs looked awful on it. But maybe yours will do well.

What do you mean by "they do not seem too concerned about the AFFOCO nutrient recommendations on paper?" I thought they said they passed the tests for a all life stage food? Could you link me what you mean? Also, what do you believe it's deficient in? What does looked awful mean? Their looks actually changed?

				   | How are they avoiding synthetic vitamins yet all their foods have the identical (and incorrect amount) of vitamin D? Do you have to add their supplement too ( although adding that still wouldn't bring it to aafco minimum). I'm bothered by this -- " Nature’s Logic Canine Beef Meal Dinner Fare provides complete and balanced nutrition for All Life Stages and is comparable in nutritional adequacy to a product which has been substantiated using AAFCO feeding tests." Comparable to an aafco product doesnt mean substantiated. I wouldn't feed a 2:1 Calcium to phosphorous maximum to my dogs. Calcium excesses are not smart in a breed prone to calcium oxalate bladder stones.

![]() PS: Thanks for specifying the specific Wellness formula. Gucci is still transitioning into Wellness Complete Health Toy Senior, appetite seems to be an issue, part of that seems to be his owners not following a more strict treat regimen. | |

				   | Don't mean to hijack this thread but maybe someone can answer this. I read an article in DOGS NATURALLY some time ago that AAFCO was a private corporation and not government regulated. The article also stated that some of the regulating members are from Purina, Hills and Monsanto. The article also stated they have no way enforcing any of their findings. Does anyone know more about AAFCO? I'm off to see if I can find the article. Quote:

"AAFCO does not certify any product. It is a non-profit organization made up of State Regulatory employees. The states can choose to adopt the AAFCO Nutrient Profiles, of which many states do. So our products are registered with states that adopt the dog and cat nutrient profiles found in the AAFCO Publication. Our dry dog and cat foods and canned dog foods are registered with states where it is sold and is substantiated by passing AAFCO all life stage feeding trials which the states accept for our product registration and for doing commerce in their states. The raw food is formulated to meet the AAFCO nutrient profile for dogs and cats which is also accepted for registering our product in the states where Nature's Logic is sold. Our canned cat food still says for intermittent use, but that is changing soon to being formulated to meet the AAFCO nutrient profile as does the raw food. The second page of the attachment gives some feeding trial information."

				   | OK, found what I was looking for in DOGS NATURALLY. It wasn't an article...it was a blurb and it wasn't Monsanto, it was Cargill.

				   | Here is the rest of the blurb from DOGS NATURALLY. AAFCO approved foods mean NOTHING!! just the opposite - if they aren't they are usually much better quality...Don't let that label sway you to believe "it must be a better food" if it's AAFCO approved.... AAFCO is a private corporation, not a government regulatory agency. AAFCO has no means of enforcement, nor do they perform any analytical testing of foods:
