| Has anybody tried Nexgard? Flea/tick chewable. My vet recommended this for Abigail, who is 6.5 lbs. |

| I saw a thing for it in my vets office today and am curious too. Although the thing in the vet office said it only worked on dog ticks and our problem is deer ticks.

| Well, I started her on it. The vet said it is safer for her than Comfortis and MUCH safer than Trifexis. We'll see how it goes. |

| I'm another one who's also curious. Does anyone know how it is price-wise compared to K9 Advantix II? That's what we currently use for flea/tick when it gets warmer out but I think a chewable tablet might be nice alternative if it's just as effective...I kind of make a mess with the topical stuff lol. Please keep us posted on how Abigail does with it |

| Honestly, I'm not sure but I would guess not although I still would like to protect against ticks during certain months. I've only ever found a couple ticks on Toki and I believe it was after going to the dog park (relatively heavily wooded area) and we seldom go there. We live in an apartment and most of our walks are on sidewalks in the neighborhood and I don't have a yard that the pups can run around in so I would imagine the risk for encountering ticks is lower for us. Maybe? I was checking online and it seems the price for Nexgard is significantly higher than just splitting doses of the K9 Advantix II so we'll be sticking with that. |

| I think I am going to be ill. I googled dog ticks and some of the images of those poor dogs with hundreds of them in their ear made me sick. We have them here and we treat and check our dogs every day I cannot imagine letting an animal get in that state. https://www.google.com/search?q=dogt...w=1024&bih=653 Not for the weak stomached.

Abigail had some vomiting (minimal - just a minute or two) about 4 hours after her dose. While vomiting is a common side effect (per package), it happened quite a long time after ingestion so I don't know if it's related. I will be watchful next month when she gets her next dose. | Yes, I will be following comments, I just heard about this medicine. As my pup loves the water, this would be good for him. Now I am wondering how soon after your pup vomited? Because might she have also vomited the medicine. That is why when the first time I tried Trifexis and mine vomited after, the vet said don't bother with it. I use Sentinel and advantage now. I live in Florida and its just fleas that I want to prevent. |

| I recently asked a vet about this when I saw it because it is only labeled for the American dog tick and we have many other ticks here. The answer I got was this: "Hi, Cathy! Good question. As of right now, NexGard is only labeled for the American Dog Tick. However, the product studies on other tick species are complete and are being reviewed by the FDA for approval. (In previous studies the American Dog Tick proved to be much hardier than the others, so we're hopeful NexGard won't have a problem getting additional labeling since it's been confirmed effective against the American Dog Tick.) Thanks for asking!"
