I recently asked a vet about this when I saw it because it is only labeled for the American dog tick and we have many other ticks here. The answer I got was this:

"Hi, Cathy! Good question. As of right now, NexGard is only labeled for the American Dog Tick. However, the product studies on other tick species are complete and are being reviewed by the FDA for approval. (In previous studies the American Dog Tick proved to be much hardier than the others, so we're hopeful NexGard won't have a problem getting additional labeling since it's been confirmed effective against the American Dog Tick.)
