| They eat the duck. They didn't seem to like the chicken so I brought it back and got the duck. They gobble that up. I like the $14 price better. |

Look at the back and see what it tells you to feed- you can always split it up like I do- it works really well for us.

| Farmina? Thank you for the info. This would not be my choice of dog food as it seems very high in protein. Also I though pork was not the best for dogs? However, to each his own. |

That is what I find great with YT. We hear about all kinds of food brands.

I can't agree that CC is a "terrible food", based upon its ingredients. I'm sure there are people on this board who think Farmina is terrible too, for their own reasons. However, Farmina is working for you and that's wonderful. Quote:
If you know something more than that, ie "you should do your homework", it'd probably be more meaningful to just tell us what that homework is rather than imply some sort of mystery. It would be helpful if you merely shared the facts if you know something meaningful.

You are correct its not available here, not sure why it would sell like crazy. Everyone knows Italians don't settle for bad food. Boar & Apple | Farmina Pet Foods - Happy pet. Happy You. Chicken & Pomegranate | Farmina Pet Foods - Happy pet. Happy You. Last edited by Nipper; 06-17-2013 at 04:42 AM.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I have a few problems with the Farmina food. First is that they have inulin. It is used to replace sugar. It can cause gas and bloating. Some companies even put a warning to that affect on the package. The second is Fructooligosaccharide. It is also a sugar alternative. Fructo-oligosaccharides seem to be safe when taken in less than 30 grams per day. They can cause intestinal gas (flatulence), intestinal noises, bloating, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. These effects are usually mild if the dose is less than 10 grams per day. Special Precautions & Warnings: Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the use of fructo-oligosaccharides during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use. Everyone has a personal opinion on the foods they give their dogs.

Some foods might list it differently but both ingredients are extremely common in foods. Keep in mind the label is a translation from Italian on the website. Neither are sugar alternatives. Last edited by Nipper; 06-17-2013 at 06:56 AM.

"Oligosaccharides differ from other types carbohydrates (sugars) in that they are indigestible in the stomach and small intestine. Instead of being broken down by acids, enzymes, and other digestive chemicals in the upper GI tract, they remain intact until they reach the large intestine, where they are finally broken down and fermented by resident microflora. The result is stimulation of the growth and/or activity of bifidobacteria and other beneficial bacteria that dogs need to properly digest their food and metabolize waste." Yes, everyone has a personal opinion but that doesn't mean someone can be factually in error (you).

| So can someone tell me, is it worth a 4 hr drive for me to get a bag(s) of Canine Caviar for Enzo? He is so picky with his kibble! He's 9 months old, around 7.5 lbs. Initially he was on BB when I got him (at 7 months) He ate very little of it, so on a suggestion from another Yorkie owner, I switched to RC Puppy. He did just ok on the first bag, and now won't even touch it! If you do think it's worth my drive, I won't hesitate. I think he'd like the Duck/Sweet potato version.

| CC kibble I would not do the drive myself! Especially as your Enzo may not like it. Then it would be another trip to return it. LOL! I get my local small pet shop to order it for me, or you could get it by mail? Have u tried Wellness, it is very much like BB. How hard it is to feed these picky ones! Good Luck! By the way, I have found that sometimes one bag is different from the next and my boy will not eat the new bag often. No issue like this, so far, with CC. |
