| Tips for losing weight Nena is a bit overweight. She is weighing a bit over 4 kg (8.8 pounds) and her weight has to be between 3 and 3,5 kg (6,6 - 7.7 pounds) The vet told me to watch her weight because the chance of her gaining weight after spaying is big (she will be spayed this august). I give my dogs Hills Science Plan. The amount I give them is according to what they advice (what is written on the package). I cut back on treats and started walking more often with them, and now that the weather is getting better I started running with them (not much, 30 minutes more or less and with pauses in between). But her weight isn't changing. Are there any tips on what I can do to help her now and after she gets spayed? Thanks in advance

| Ziva had to lose weight after her last vet visit. I was surprised at how square and stocky she had become- so slowly we accepted it as her natural shape. I had to cut back on her food quite a lot before we saw a difference over a few months. She now eats 1Tablespoon/am and 1/4 cup /pm. That leaves us just a little room for "good girl "treats. She is now just a touch over 7 lbs down from over 8lbs! It took 6 months. |

Jada packed on an extra 2 lbs when we first adopted her. She came to us underweight at 4lbs 8ozs and our vet wanted her to get aroung 5lb 5 ozs. I over did it and she got up to 7lbs I started adding frozen salt free green beans to her kibble and cutting her portion by 1/3 for the weight I wanted her to reach. It did take over a year to get that extra weight off, but the green beans work. I also don't give any treats other than green beans or low cal veggies she likes. So far she has kept the weight steady at 5lb 5oz for two years now.

| I give her the amount of the weight she should have (3kg). I will try using the green beans

| I think dog food recommended feeding amounts are on the high side. Try cutting back the kibble too. Max gained weight and was headed toward being overweight, so I cut his lunch in half. We also went back to our morning walk routine, in addition to the evening outing. He has taken off 3 - 4 ounces. Best wishes to Nena.

YT 2000 Club Member | Our Max is over weight, too. When we got him neutered he gained so much weight! He was at a hefty 8 lbs and now is down about 1/2 pound. I have recently cut his kibble to 1/4 cup with green beans added to his meal. I have cut the treat to nothing and try to get him to walk as much as possible. He is a couch potato!

| Our Lola was a puppy mill rescue who came starved and underweight. She was food obsessed, and quickly became overweight. We kept the same brand of food, but switched to the weight control formula. We decreased the amount slightly, and added the salt free green beans and carrots to increase the bulk, so that she would not always be hungry. We started walking at least a mile 2x day. She lost the extra weight, and so did I. I just commented to my husband last night on what a different dog she is now, running and playing. She is no longer a lazy couch potato. We love the new and improved Lola. We are having such fun with her again. Best wishes!

| Your vet can best guide you of the ideal weight for your dog’s breed and height and develop a strategy for getting him back on track. He can also make you aware of any potential health concerns. |
